Ning Su did indeed recognize the high school student on the street at a glance. It was the Gu Witch from before entering the game.
In the castle of the <Manman> instance, the Gu Witch had told him about his past, and he had clearly seen what he looked like at six years old and as an adult.
Even in high school, when he was on the brink of death and his face was covered in sores, Ning Su recognized him immediately in the crowd.
His eyes, the contours of his features, the worm holes on his face, the school uniform skirt.
That’s why Ning Su had been taking her along.
The two Gu Witches stared at each other.
As Ning Su planned to take the opportunity to leave, the two turned their gaze back to him.
Ning Su: “...”
Since the person involved was here, he shouldn’t need to answer that question, right?
He also didn’t know why the Gu Witch had placed a love Gu on him.
Ning Su looked up and called out to the Vampire and Guo Xiao, “Big brother, where should I go now?”
“…”
The Vampire and Guo Xiao walked over, and the Gu Witch withdrew his gaze.
When the two approached, the Gu Witch said, “I’ll take you inside.”
This abandoned prison was quite large. The people who were hiding and the wandering zombies had been cleared out by the Yongming Guild.
Now, inside were only the zombie faction players who had passed the test and some zombies.
Ning Su had just entered when he quickly put the two children into the system. After walking a few steps, he saw the president of the Yongming Guild, Black-clothed Azan.
The Yongming Guild was not low key at the base.
But the president of the Yongming Guild was very low key.
He looked to be in his early thirties, dressed in black, with a tall and slender figure. He was somewhat handsome, appearing to be a charming and elegant, mature man.
When the Vampire saw him, he immediately asked, “President, what’s the situation now?”
Black-clothed Azan said, “This prison is our zombie faction’s safe base. Gu Witch is responsible for guiding zombie faction players from various parts of the city to gather here, and the Human Pupa Master is responsible for screening and allowing the entry of zombie faction players and zombies. You came at the right time; I have a task for you.”
The Vampire asked, “What task? Do you want us to assassinate human faction players?”
Black-clothed Azan shook his head, “Let me tell you first, our guild alone can’t win this instance, so be friendly with people from other guilds in the zombie faction.”
This was a warning.
The Human Pupa Master had probably also been warned, so even though her attitude outside wasn’t good, she didn’t immediately kill players whose identities were uncertain.
“Even if we combine all the guilds in the zombie faction, we still can’t win,” Black-clothed Azan said.
The Vampire looked at him in confusion, just about to speak, when Black-clothed Azan said, “It’s still not enough.”
“What do you mean?”
Black-clothed Azan said, “We also need to unite with the zombies in this city.”
“You should have seen on your way here that there are many zombies and humans in this city, far outnumbering us players by hundreds and thousands.”
“The main quest of this instance is to protect our home, which clearly refers to both the zombies’ and the humans’ bases. This scope is large, and it’s not something the hundred players like us can accomplish.”
Black-clothed Azan glanced at a zombie inside the prison. “This is not the early stages of the apocalypse; the initial complete chaos is over. Both zombies and humans have evolved. There must be organized humans in this city, and the zombies should be the same.”
“Shi Tianzhu and her group will definitely seek to ally with the humans and find the human leaders in this city. We have to do the same; otherwise, we can’t fight against them with just a few guilds.”
Ning Su, standing behind Guo Xiao, glanced at Black-clothed Azan and somewhat understood why he could be the president.
The Vampire asked, “So, what do you mean?”
Black-clothed Azan said, “There are high-level zombies among the zombies, and there are leaders. I hope you can find the Zombie King.”
The Vampire was stunned, and Ning Su pursed his lips.
Black-clothed Azan said, “Go sleep for five hours, then take people to search.”
Thanks to the two big shots, Ning Su was assigned to a staff room instead of actually sleeping in a cell.
He made the most of his time and slept for five hours. Sometime the next day, at dusk, the Vampire awakened him.
A total of eight zombie faction players formed a scouting team.
Their main task was to find the Zombie King in the city and, in passing, clear out the human faction players.
The high school Gu Witch was still following Ning Su, just like the previous day.
It was unclear how he managed it, but it seemed the others still didn’t know he was the past version of the Gu Witch.
Ning Su asked, “Why are you still following me?”
Haven’t you found your own place?
The high school Gu Witch didn’t speak, just continued to follow him.
The Vampire said, “Let ‘her’ follow. The more people, the stronger we are. But let me say upfront, if we encounter danger, we won’t protect anyone who drags us down.”
Since he put it that way, Ning Su had nothing more to say.
The scouting team set off.
The Vampire said, “Today we’ll start by searching places in this city where people might gather.”
Gui Sheng popped his head up and suggested, “A supermarket?”
“......”
The first place they went to was a hospital.
When the zombie outbreak first began in the apocalypse, hospitals were terrifying, like hell on earth.
Even though it wasn’t the initial stage anymore, the place still looked eerie.
There were long streaks of dried blood on the white walls, medical equipment scattered haphazardly on the ground, and flies buzzed in swarms from who knows where.
The eight of them split into pairs. Besides Guo Xiao, Ning Su’s group also included the high school Gu Witch.
Guo Xiao said, “There’s someone up ahead!”
He ran towards a thin figure in front. Just as Ning Su was about to follow, he suddenly turned his head.
Behind him was the empty hospital corridor, with several room doors open and only two tightly closed.
Ning Su quietly walked to one of the doors and gripped the doorknob.
A few seconds later, he pushed open the door.
At that moment, a black whip shot straight at his face. Just as the sharp whip was about to strike his nose, Ning Su bent backward to dodge.
Immediately, the whip flew quickly towards his hand, swift and fierce.
Ning Su promptly raised his hand, lifting his other hand as well, making a gesture of surrender.
But the person wielding the whip didn’t stop; instead, they lashed at him even more ferociously.
The angle was tricky, the speed was fast, and the whip technique was ruthless.
It didn’t seem like something a little girl could execute.
Ning Su jumped and dodged around the hospital room, narrowly avoiding getting hit several times.
Ning Su: “...”
Ning Su: “Stop hitting, I’m not a bad person.”
The whip lashed out even more harshly, as if mocking his words with indifference.
Ning Su: “...”
Ning Su: “Shi Tianzhu, stop hitting!”
Hearing her name, the little girl finally held back the whip.
Her small face was tense, and her clear peach blossom eyes were still wary. She asked, “Who are you?”
Ning Su scratched his chin. “Well, it’s a bit complicated to explain.”
