In the wedding caravan, the bride and groom sat in the front car, and the bridesmaid sat in the rear car.
There was only one bridesmaid, who was sitting in the
passenger seat, and the three squeezed into the car where she was.
“I’m sorry to bother you.” Zhu Shuangshuang said to the
driver and bridesmaid as soon as she got into the car.
The bridesmaid was as enthusiastic as the bride and
groom. “What bother? The more people, the livelier it would be. Which is better
for this big day.”
“And ah.” The bridesmaid rolled her eyes and smiled. Her voice slowed
down. “Our Huaiyang Village has always been hospitable.”
Zhu Shuangshuang and the bridesmaid were both girls,
not much different in age. She chatted with her, trying to get some
information.
“The wedding car came from outside to pick up the
bride. Isn’t the bride from Huaiyang Village? You are also from this village,
right?”
Su Xiangsheng glanced at Zhu Shuangshuang’s social skills, and then he
looked outside of the car with confidence.
The bridesmaid smiled, “Yes, the bride is not from
here, and her home is too far away, so it’s not convenient for her best friend
to come over, so I, the groom’s cousin, will be her bridesmaid.”
Zhu Shuangshuang: “You have a good relationship.”
Zhu Shuanghshuang and the bridesmaid chatted happily,
and the car drove smoothly in the village with no accidents along the way.
Su Xiangsheng had been observing the village through
the car window.
Apart from seeing a wedding shop and a funeral shop
opposite, he noticed nothing unusual.
Different from what he felt on the high road outside,
this is a wealthy and peaceful village.
The road was wide and tidy, with lush trees and
beautiful flowers planted along it, and small villas behind the trees.
There were old people strolling on the road, as well as
children jumping happily. The sun shone on them, and their faces were full of
real satisfaction and happiness.
Su Xiangsheng withdrew his gaze and frowned
suspiciously.
The car turned a corner and entered another road.
Zhu Shuangshuang, who was chatting with the bridesmaid,
suddenly gasped for breath, and her face turned pale.
It wasn’t just her. Su Xiangsheng noticed that Ning Su,
who had been lounging on the other side looking out of the window, straightened
his back a bit and tensed up.
He immediately looked out the car window.
There were many shops on this road, a weird sight for
such a small village. Someone pushed two pigs that had just been slaughtered
and processed in the slaughterhouse.
Su Xiangsheng glanced inside. The slaughterhouse was
very large, and there were cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens, ducks, and geese
waiting to be slaughtered inside, which should supply the meat of the entire
village.
Seeing that the three people in the car were watching
the slaughterhouse, the bridesmaid said, “The slaughterhouse is very busy this
year. We have ordered a lot of meat for the wedding banquet, and there will be
enough for everyone.”
Ning Su immediately turned his head, his eyes shimmering. “That’s great.”
“...”
Ning Su, were you so deprived of meat?
The car drove for a while, and stopped in front of a
cathedral, where many people gathered.
The three of them got out of the car, following the
bridesmaid.
The groom’s parents greeted everyone: “Welcome.”
Everyone walked into the church, and the three of them
took a slow step to exchange information in the corner outside the church.
Su Xiangsheng asked: “I didn’t find any other clues
except that the wedding shop and the funeral shop are opposite, which is very
unusual. What about you?”
Zhu Shuangshuang: “The people in this village are
really warm and nice, and the bride and groom are friendly. The bride is not
from this village... how come it doesn’t really match the setting of a
supernatural village? Oh, yes, when we passed by the slaughterhouse, I felt
inexplicably very uncomfortable and depressed.”
Su Xiangsheng said: “You are highly sensitive. If you
felt uncomfortable, it might mean that there is a problem there.”
Zhu Shuangshuang: “It’s a slaughterhouse. I don’t know
how many animals are killed every day. Is it just normal to feel uncomfortable
seeing it?”
Su Xiangsheng: “The slaughterhouse and the name of the
dungeon “Ghost Animal” sound related. Coupled with your sensitivity, it should
be a breakthrough."
The two talked for a while, but they didn’t hear Ning Su’s voice, and turned
to look for him. They saw the other staring at the person giving out candies in
front of the church.
“...”
Su Xiangsheng thought that when they passed by the
slaughterhouse, Ning Su was also a little abnormal, but he seemed to be just
greedy for meat. He asked with no hope, “Did you find anything when you passed
the slaughterhouse just now?”
Ning Su: “Yes.”
The two immediately stared at him.
“I saw something in a room in the slaughterhouse,” Ning
Su said.
There were several rooms in the slaughterhouse. He
didn’t know whether it was a cold storage room or just a normal storage room.
The two rooms he could see when they passed by the slaughterhouse were all
shaded. Even with the door open, it still looked very dark.
“It seems to be a child.” The boy frowned lightly after
speaking. “It’s too dim. I’m not sure if it’s a child, because he looks like
he’s lying on the ground, like a cat or dog.”
