Jiang Sinian didn’t see what Ruan Qing posted, but the viewers in the livestream room saw it clearly.
The camera in the livestream room zoomed in on the chat
records on Ruan Qing’s phone.
[Who is this person? What’s the relationship between them and
Qingqing?! How could Qingqing borrow 500,000 yuan from them? If it’s just an
ordinary relationship, it wouldn’t be a request for 500,000 yuan, right?]
[I guess this person isn’t a good individual! They’re
completely unworthy of our Qingqing! I disagree with this marriage proposal!]
[I also disagree!]
[Am I the only one who despises that idiotic guy? He actually
held onto Qingqing’s hand!]
[It’s only been a short while, and Qingqing is already
involved. Can’t you guys be more sensible? Unlike me, I’m going to cheer! My
wife!]
Taoyuan Road, inside the Fengya Bar.
The lights flickered rapidly, alternately bright and dim. The
air was filled with the scent of smoke and alcohol, and the dance floor was
filled with frenetic figures swaying. The music was so loud that it deafened
the ears.
In the corner, there sat a man wearing suit pants and a white
shirt.
The suit pants accentuated the man’s long and straight legs,
and his white shirt was buttoned all the way up, giving off an air of restraint
that made people want to unbutton it and stain his white shirt. His appearance
was extremely handsome, but unlike Jiang Sinian’s wickedness, he exuded a
gentle and refined aura.
He seemed out of place in this bar.
The man held an unlit cigarette between his index and middle
fingers, lacking interest as he watched the crowd twisting on the dance floor.
He was alone, as if others subconsciously avoided the area
where he was.
Suddenly, he felt a vibration in his hand.
He lifted the hand pressing on the phone.
It was his phone; someone had sent him a message.
The man picked up his phone and opened the message.
[Little Lamb: Hello, I’m outside the Fengya Bar. Can you lend
me 500,000 yuan?]
The man, upon seeing the request for 500,000 yuan, didn’t
mock it like an ordinary person would. Instead, his lips curled up slightly,
and he made an ambiguous “heh” sound. He put the cigarette near his ear and
began typing a reply.
[Gu Zhaoxi: Are you facing some difficulties? Don’t worry,
I’ll help you. I’m currently at Fengya. I’ll have someone bring you in so we
can discuss it in detail.]
Although the man appeared somewhat indifferent, his message
conveyed a caring big brother-like concern for a younger brother next door.
[Little Lamb: No need to trouble yourself. I’ll come in and
find you.]
After replying, Ruan Qing turned the phone screen toward
Jiang Sinian. Whether by accident or on purpose, Ruan Qing’s thumb
coincidentally blocked the character for “million.”
It seemed as if he was borrowing 500 yuan instead of 500,000
yuan.
Ruan Qing cautiously glanced at Jiang Sinian and spoke
softly, “I, I’ll go in first. My friend is waiting for me.”
Jiang Sinian naturally didn’t notice how much money Ruan Qing
borrowed, as his attention was focused on the caring tone of the message. It
annoyed him slightly, but he also knew that if he overreacted, he would
frighten the young man.
“I’ll accompany you inside.”
Ruan Qing didn’t refuse, and the two entered the bar.
The bar was incredibly noisy, and Ruan Qing seemed completely
unsuited for such an environment. The gazes directed at him made him feel
nervous and uneasy.
Moreover, there were just too many people, making it
difficult to find someone in this kind of setting.
The sudden entrance of the young man and the handsome man
with him attracted quite a bit of attention in the bar.
The young man, wearing slightly oversized clothes, appeared
somewhat delicate. Although his face was partially covered by a mask, his
beautiful eyes were visible, and he definitely wasn’t unattractive.
Furthermore, a sense of purity and innocence emanated from
the young man, coupled with his youthful aura, making some people unable to
resist their impulses.
One should know that most people who came to bars weren’t
particularly innocent.
“Hello, may I ask if you are Mr. Ye Qing? Mr. Gu is
requesting your presence.” A roughly dressed man appeared in front of the two,
courteously looking at Ruan Qing.
When the other people in the bar heard the words “Mr. Gu,”
some reluctantly withdrew their gaze, while only a few people’s eyes lingered
on the young man.
Ye Qing was the name of the body that Ruan Qing currently
occupied.
Ruan Qing felt a little uncomfortable under the scrutiny of
strangers and instinctively moved closer to Jiang Sinian. It was only after
realizing this that Ruan Qing slightly nodded at the man.
“Please follow me.”
Ruan Qing hesitated for a moment, but ultimately followed
behind the man.
Jiang Sinian also followed suit.
The tall man led the two until they were a short distance
from the bar counter and then stopped. “Mr. Ye, Mr. Gu is waiting for you over
there.”
Ruan Qing followed the man’s gaze and glanced at the man
sitting in front of the bar counter. After whispering a quiet “thank you” to
the man who led the way, Ruan Qing walked towards the bar counter.
Jiang Sinian also wanted to go, but was stopped by the tall
man.
With an apologetic yet assertive smile, the tall man said to
Jiang Sinian, “Sir, Mr. Gu doesn’t like strangers approaching him.”
From this position, they could clearly see the bar counter.
Jiang Sinian didn’t insist on going over.
Of course, this was mainly because he didn’t want to scare
the young man.
Ruan Qing slowly approached the man, greeted him with
nervousness and unease, “Gu, Mr. Gu, hello.”
Perhaps it had been a long time since he had actively spoken
to someone. His voice began to tremble uncontrollably, like a small bullied
kitten.
Gu Zhaoxi showed a hint of surprise in his eyes upon hearing
the voice, then spoke gently to the young man, “Long time no see. How have you
been recently? Take a seat and tell me slowly.”
Gu Zhaoxi’s voice was somewhat slow, giving people a
refreshing feeling, making them feel extremely comfortable. It carried a hint
of gentleness and tranquility, giving a sense of warmth like jade.
Ruan Qing sat across from Gu Zhaoxi, feeling restrained. Nervously,
he placed his hands obediently on his lap, looking extremely well-behaved.
Gu Zhaoxi picked up an empty glass beside him and poured a
drink for Ruan Qing, pushing it towards him. He also poured a drink for
himself. “Have you encountered any recent troubles? If you don’t mind, I can be
a listener.”
Ruan Qing’s gaze fell on the glass of wine pushed towards him
by the man. In an instant, he averted his eyes and didn’t reach out to take it.
He began stuttering and explaining the situation.
Perhaps he wasn’t good at communicating with others, and it
seemed like this was the first time he had spoken so much. His nervous face
turned completely red. Even the corners of his eyes had a blush.
Ruan Qing quickly summarized the recent experiences of the
original owner without any embellishments.
After listening, Gu Zhaoxi rubbed his thumb against the
glass, smiling gently. “You should know that I’m not a philanthropist.”
Ruan Qing looked up at Gu Zhaoxi, seeming to not understand
the meaning of his words.
Gu Zhaoxi tapped the glass in his hand with his index finger.
“Five hundred thousand isn’t a small amount. How do you plan to repay it?”
“I... I don’t know,” Ruan Qing helplessly bit his lower lip.
His hand, placed on his knee, clenched nervously, making his already fair skin
even paler. “I will definitely repay you.”
Gu Zhaoxi didn’t confirm or deny anything. Instead, he
extended the glass in his hand to Ruan Qing. His gentle voice carried a hint of
non-refusal. “Drink it.”
Ruan Qing looked at the glass in front of him, his face
turning pale. “Mr. Gu, I... I don’t drink alcohol.”
Gu Zhaoxi chuckled softly. “When borrowing money, you have to
show some sincerity, don’t you think? Otherwise, it would be difficult for me
too.”
