Eerie, distorted, and ominously frightening.
It seemed like a person... as if someone had peeled off the outer layer of skin, exposing blood and muscles directly to the air.
It sent shivers down the spine.
Moreover, the shadow seemed to be constantly melting, as if the blood was flowing, then solidifying the next second, barely forming a human shape.
However, upon closer inspection, the twisted posture was far from human.
Ruan Qing’s cold sweat broke out instantly, and he instinctively tightened his grip on Shen Baiyue’s hand.
Fear and terror appeared in his beautiful eyes.
But the next moment, Ruan Qing became calmer. This thing didn’t seem to be the same kind of entity he saw earlier.
This should be... a monster?
The red blood shadow was aimlessly wandering, its movements contorted like the zombies in a movie.
Clearly, it was a tangible monster.
In the next moment, as if sensing something, the red blood shadow abruptly stopped, turning to look directly at Ruan Qing and Shen Baiyue.
Then, the melting of its body accelerated. Even the humanoid shape couldn’t be maintained, as if it was excited about something.
Perhaps it discovered food, perhaps it found something it liked.
Ruan Qing’s reaction was swift. When the red blood shadow looked in their direction, he pulled Shen Baiyue and immediately dodged behind a wall.
Shen Baiyue seemed frightened, tightly gripping Ruan Qing’s hand, trembling slightly, her face showing unease and fear.
Logically, Ruan Qing dodged very quickly; the red shadow shouldn’t have seen him and Shen Baiyue.
Yet, the red shadow was approaching their side in the corridor, and its speed was not slow.
Ruan Qing’s heart sank upon hearing the movement.
They... had been noticed.
Without hesitation, Ruan Qing pulled Shen Baiyue and began to run.
While the red shadow was terrifying, its speed was not incredibly fast, providing them with some room to escape.
The problem, however, was that Ruan Qing was not physically fit and couldn’t engage in intense physical activity for an extended period.
Even after spending the afternoon collecting clues in the villa, Ruan Qing’s body was exhausted.
He couldn’t run for more than a few minutes, and Shen Baiyue, with her knee injured from the fall in the basement, couldn’t run for long either.
It was only a matter of time before they were caught.
Ruan Qing had clearly considered this. Instead of running in a straight line, he attempted to shake off the eerie blood shadows by maneuvering through the maze-like passages.
And it worked.
After a few rounds, Ruan Qing successfully evaded the blood shadows.
However, his condition was now dire. Due to the intense exertion, he started struggling to breathe. His brain became somewhat foggy, and even his heart began to ache.
Ruan Qing knew he was having a heart attack.
In this instance, he had no medication, so he had to endure it on his own.
Once he made sure the red shadows didn’t catch up, he turned, leaning against the wall. Slowly sliding down, he ended up sitting on the floor, utterly drained.
Leaning back against the wall, he closed his eyes and placed his hand firmly on his rapidly beating heart, attempting to calm himself and mitigate the symptoms.
Shen Baiyue, in slightly better condition, leaned against the wall, looking down at the young man sitting on the ground. His fair and delicate and swan-like neck was exposed, and though his eyes were closed, his long eyelashes quivered slightly.
Due to his breathing, his lips were slightly parted, revealing a faint pink from a certain angle, as if enticing someone to kiss him.
Shen Baiyue’s expression showed a hint of aggression, uncharacteristic of her usual demeanor. However, it quickly returned to normal in the next moment.
This was because the person on the ground had his eyes closed, oblivious to the change in her gaze.
Ruan Qing indeed had no energy to pay attention to Shen Baiyue at the moment. His mood was somewhat heavy.
Ruan Qing now understood why Yang Chenjin had warned him not to leave the room after ten o’clock.
He also grasped why this instance was called <Eerie Blood Shadow>.
The thing they encountered just now was probably the Blood Shadow.
It seemed that the entire Yang family villa had become infested with these terrifying entities.
Ruan Qing noticed when he escaped earlier that as time passed, the Blood Shadows’ speed gradually increased.
It was as if the longer they were out, the stronger they became.
Moreover, even though they were all Blood Shadows, their strength and speed varied. The three he encountered earlier had completely different speeds.
It was evident that there were stronger and weaker Blood Shadows.
It wasn’t even eleven o’clock yet, and morning felt like a distant future.
However, his current condition couldn’t get any worse.
If he encountered those Blood Shadows again, it would be extremely difficult to shake them off.
He might very well die tonight.
At that point, his only option would be to enter the body of that male player.
This would make his movements in this instance even more passive.
So, unless absolutely necessary, Ruan Qing didn’t want to give up his own body.
During a brief pause in his breathing, he struggled to swallow and shakily extended his other hand, attempting to undo the top button of his shirt single-handedly.
Trying to make his breathing a bit smoother.
However, likely due to fatigue or the difficulty of using just one hand, Ruan Qing couldn’t undo it after several attempts.
Just as he was about to give up, the person beside him reached out, seemingly ready to help.
Ruan Qing slightly opened his eyes, looking at Shen Baiyue, who was so close. In a hoarse voice, he said, “Thank you.”
Shen Baiyue didn’t say anything, just trembling slightly. She undid the button of Ruan Qing’s shirt.
After the button was undone, Ruan Qing felt a bit more comfortable.
Just a bit.
His main problem still lay with his heart.
Even if it wouldn’t directly cause death due to illness, this body was still too much of a liability.
He needed to accumulate points quickly to completely resolve the hidden danger of heart disease. Otherwise, sooner or later, he would succumb to this heart condition.
Ruan Qing worked hard to steady his heartbeat and breathing, trying to regain strength quickly.
This corner of the corridor was evidently unsafe. They had to find a safe place as soon as possible and hide.
Perhaps they could go to one of the rooms on the third floor of the main villa.
Shen Baiyue patiently waited nearby without urging Ruan Qing.
After a while, Ruan Qing finally regained his strength. He leaned against the wall and stood up.
Seeing this, Shen Baiyue immediately reached out and held onto Ruan Qing.
Ruan Qing, holding Shen Baiyue, prepared to leave the corner.
However, as soon as they stepped out, they directly collided face-to-face with a group of red blood-like shadows.
