The blood shadow obviously didn’t intend to kill Ruan Qing. It bent down and approached Ruan Qing, excitement and agitation appearing in its hollow eyes.
That was the excitement of obtaining something beloved.
It extended its blood-red tongue and cautiously licked Ruan Qing’s face.
The strength was light, fearing to hurt Ruan Qing. Yet, Ruan Qing would rather have this blood shadow thinking of killing him than endure this distorted treatment.
However, he couldn’t break free at all. The icy touch stimulated Ruan Qing’s eyes, misting them with a cold haze, and his eyelashes trembled lightly.
Because the blood shadow was entirely red, bloodstains also marked Ruan Qing’s face.
Not only his face but also most of his clothing was dyed red, giving him a somewhat desolate appearance.
Among the trembling eyelashes, there was a sense of brokenness, pitiful to the extreme, yet strangely tempting.
Ruan Qing couldn’t see his current posture. The blood shadow immobilized him and could not move an inch.
He could only lie on the ground, gasping for breath.
The next moment, something slid along the edge of his clothes.
“Ugh...” Ruan Qing’s body shivered at the cold touch, and tears welled up in his beautiful eyes.
Seeing the blood shadow becoming more extreme, if it continued, he might...
Ruan Qing bit down and broke the hidden poison in his mouth.
Right after he broke it, something slashed through the blood shadow that was on top of him.
Ruan Qing looked at the blood shadow, now cut in half, his pupils shrinking, and his eyes widened.
His heart nearly stopped beating.
Ruan Qing was stunned, turning his head to look at the other side of the passage.
It was... Shen Baiyue.
She came back.
She didn’t run away; it seemed she had just gone to find a sword.
Ruan Qing’s gaze fell on the sword in Shen Baiyue’s hand.
Apparently, that sword had just saved him.
Ruan Qing, who had already ingested the poison: “.......” Next time, please inform me in advance, okay?
While the blood shadows couldn’t be permanently killed, destroying a substantial portion of their bodies prolonged the time it took for them to regenerate.
This was the conclusion Ruan Qing had just reached.
So, a sword was more useful than a gun.
Even with a sharp weapon in hand, it might not necessarily inflict damage on the blood shadows.
Because the blood shadow’s defensive capabilities were also extremely strong, even with a slightly weaker force, it’s uncertain if it could break through blood shadow’s defense.
Shen Baiyue, paying no attention to the injured Ruan Qing on the ground, rushed forward as other blood shadows approached when the first one was cut in half.
Holding a sword, Shen Baiyue met the oncoming assault.
Ruan Qing, ignoring Shen Baiyue, propped himself against the wall, tremblingly trying to retrieve something from his pocket.
However, due to fatigue, it took him quite a while.
It was a syringe.
The syringe contained some green liquid.
Without hesitation, Ruan Qing injected it into his own clavicle.
Then he pushed the liquid into his body.
The suffocating sensation gradually subsided.
To prevent such a situation, Ruan Qing carried both poison and antidote.
But apparently, the timing of using the antidote was a bit late, and the toxins had already started spreading.
Fortunately, it wasn’t too severe.
Holding on for seven days shouldn’t be a problem.
Ruan Qing breathed a sigh of relief, leaning against the wall and panting heavily.
Shen Baiyue’s swordsmanship appeared quite formidable; with a sword in hand, she could manage to hold her own even amidst the relentless attacks of the blood shadows.
That was, except for the strongest one, which was distracted and eventually cut in half by Shen Baiyue. Otherwise, the final outcome would be hard to predict.
Seeing the partially solidified blood shadow nearby, Ruan Qing took out a small knife to make a few cuts, trying to slow down its solidification.
However, when he attempted to make a cut, the knife couldn’t penetrate at all.
Clearly, his strength was insufficient to break through blood shadow’s defense.
Not giving up, Ruan Qing exerted all his strength and raised the small knife.
Then, he ruthlessly stabbed it.
Yet, it still couldn’t cause any harm to the blood shadow.
As a result of the recoil, the small knife in Ruan Qing’s hand was sent flying out of his grip.
Ruan Qing glanced at his own hand and then at the small knife lying nearby. He fell into silence.
The blood shadow seemed to not expect Ruan Qing to take action; it foolishly stared at Ruan Qing after the first strike.
Unexpectedly, Ruan Qing stabbed a second time.
But it did not dodge.
The result, however, was that the knife was all knocked away.
Because of being cut in half by Shen Baiyue, the blood shadow’s lower body was still frozen and unable to move.
It blinked its hollow eyes and reached out with a tentacle-like hand to grab the small knife that had fallen to the ground.
Then it handed it to Ruan Qing.
Ruan Qing looked at the small knife in front of him and cautiously moved it to the side, afraid that the blood shadow would pick it up and stab him.
However, the blood shadow handed the small knife to Ruan Qing again, and its posture clearly indicated it didn’t want to stab Ruan Qing but rather return the knife to him.
Ruan Qing: “...?”
Ruan Qing paused, somewhat hesitated, and then cautiously reached out, carefully gripping the handle of the small knife.
Then Ruan Qing saw the blood shadow leaning its head towards him.
Because the blood shadow suddenly moved, Ruan Qing shrank back in surprise, almost dropping the small knife in his hand.
But the blood shadow seemed not to intend to attack; it just extended its head.
As if waiting for him to... make a move?
Ruan Qing was stunned; he looked at the blood shadow with wide eyes, then at the small knife in his hand.
A bizarre thought suddenly rose in his mind.
Ruan Qing swallowed hard, tightened his grip on the small knife, and tremblingly thrust it towards the blood shadow.
In reality, Ruan Qing had no strength left; he had exhausted all his strength in the previous attack on the blood shadow.
However, as the blade touched the blood shadow this time, its head shattered into several pieces.
The scene was as if Ruan Qing’s attack had angered the blood shadow, and it seemed determined to devour him in retaliation.
Extremely terrifying.
This was terrifying enough to make an ordinary person faint at just one glance.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that it could scare someone to death.
Ruan Qing, caught off guard, was trembling as he saw this unfold. The knife in his hand fell from his grasp, and his body shivered.
The shattered head of the blood shadow seemed somewhat puzzled, as if it couldn’t comprehend why the person in front of it was so frightened.
It was clearly pretending to be injured.
However, the blood shadow was unaware that tilting its head made it even more horrifying. Each fragment of its head, blood-red and fleshy, seemed to be moving.
The sight resembled a monster with teeth, opening a bloody mouth, ready to devour the person in front of it.
Wide-eyed with fear, Ruan Qing’s eyes were filled with tears due to the overwhelming emotions, soaking his long lashes.
Though engaged in the battle, Shen Baiyue kept a watchful eye on Ruan Qing. Seeing the blood shadow attempting to harm him, she swiftly threw her sword, cutting through the fragmented head once again.
Shen Baiyue approached, quickly helped up Ruan Qing, and retrieved her sword from the wall.
Finding a nearby room, she led Ruan Qing inside.
With lights in the room, Shen Baiyue placed Ruan Qing down. “Brother Yu Qing, are you okay?”
Ruan Qing shook his head, remaining silent, seemingly lacking the strength to speak.
He looked disheveled, his white shirt stained with red blood and black dirt. Beads of sweat adorned his forehead, wetting his tousled hair. Despite retaining his inherent beauty, he appeared incredibly fragile, evoking sympathy.
Observing Ruan Qing’s condition, Shen Baiyue opened her mouth but couldn’t find the words. Instead, tears welled up in her eyes.
She spoke softly, her voice tinged with a sob, “Brother Yu Qing, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have lied to you...”
Don't you dare make me think a blood shadow is cute
