The players hadn’t slept, and they unconsciously softened their breathing, making the whole dormitory extremely quiet.
In such a situation, the extra breaths became particularly pronounced, causing an inexplicable tingling sensation on people’s scalps.
However, except for Ruan Qing, it seemed that several players, as if oblivious, did not hear a thing.
Ruan Qing felt stiff all over, trying to reassure himself that it must be an illusion. How could there be breathing sounds outside when they’re on the third floor?
Moreover, such a presence wouldn’t need to breathe at all.
Besides, if there was a real issue, the players would surely notice it before him.
It must be just an illusion brought on by his exhaustion.
However, the breathing sound became increasingly pronounced, even getting closer. Ruan Qing could now clearly hear it.
It didn’t sound like breathing at all; it was more like some kind of... swallowing and gasping.
It was as if something was crouching on the glass window above him, eagerly salivating, as if it had just seen a delicious meal.
Even though Ruan Qing didn’t open his eyes, his face turned pale, and his breathing uncontrollably quickened, partly out of fear.
Without opening his eyes, Ruan Qing, without hesitation, used all his strength to flip over the railing at the edge of the bed.
Ji Zhiyuan, sitting on the chair, noticed the change in Ruan Qing’s breathing the moment it happened. With remarkable speed, he reached out and caught the person who was falling over the bed's edge, holding him securely.
The warmth of Ji Zhiyuan helped dissipate some of Ruan Qing’s fearful emotions. Now, he had the courage to look towards the window.
There was no light in the dormitory, but the corridor’s light seeped through the window, revealing the scene outside of the glass.
On the glass window just above Ruan Qing’s bed, there was a creepy and distorted figure, a face covered in blood pressed against the window.
The desiccated hands of the figure were pressed against the glass, and blood was slowly sliding down, leaving eerie traces. The figure’s face was deformed from the pressure, making it impossible to discern its original appearance.
Yet, even so, one could still clearly see the greed and longing emanating from those milky eyes, fixedly staring at the young man in Ji Zhiyuan’s arms.
When the figure saw Ruan Qing lifting his head to look at it, it cracked a smile, an excited yet terrifying grin, as if it wanted to pull him over and devour him completely.
In the instant Ruan Qing saw clearly, his eyes widened, his facial expression froze, and his mind went blank, his delicate face draining of almost all color.
He instinctively hugged Ji Zhiyuan’s neck, and the slender body couldn’t help but tremble slightly.
The audience in the livestream room also witnessed this scene and erupted in reactions.
[What the heck! What the heck! What the heck! This is too terrifying! If it suddenly appears at the foot of my bed, I might just drop dead on the spot.]
[Is this the so-called pen spirit? Why does it look different from what I imagined!? Does someone who looks like that have the right to touch my wife!? Please stay away from my wife! I do not consent to this marriage! And you scared me, compensate me!!!]
[If I were the one lying on the bed, my first reaction might be to open my eyes, and then I might be scared to death on the spot.]
[Prosperity, democracy, civility, harmony, freedom, equality, justice, rule of law, patriotism, dedication, integrity, kindness.] (T/N: They’re reciting the 12 core socialist value.)
Ji Zhiyuan sensed the person in his arms trembling and lowered his gaze to look at the person nestled in his embrace.
The young man’s eyes showed a hint of red at the edges, and fear filled them, making his body tense with unease.
Ji Zhiyuan directly pressed the young man’s head into his chest, preventing him from looking outside the window.
The others in the room also noticed the figure, and their scalps couldn’t help but tingle. Their entire bodies had goosebumps, and cold sweat instantly broke out.
The three immediately decisively rolled off the bed, staring at the figure outside the window as if facing a formidable enemy.
They were already holding props designed to deal with supernatural entities like ghosts.
The figure outside the window seemed to want to come in but was blocked by the glass window. It could only stare resentfully at the people in the room, its pale pupils filled with resentment.
As if wanting to drag everyone in the dormitory room to hell.
Everyone in the dormitory room stared at the figure, their hearts seemingly gripped tightly by a hand, not daring to relax even a bit.
Tension and unease spread.
Fortunately, it seemed that the figure really couldn’t come in. The people inside breathed a slight sigh of relief.
The chubby player looked at Ruan Qing, who had already been put down beside him, and spoke softly, “Classmate Xia Qing, is this... that one?”
Although the chubby player didn’t explicitly say who he meant, everyone knew he was asking about the pen spirit.
After hearing the chubby player’s words, Ruan Qing paused for a moment and then shook his head slightly.
Although he hadn’t seen the face of the pen spirit, and hadn’t examined the figure outside the window too closely, the silhouette was not dressed in a shirt. The withered fingers also differed in shape from the hand of the pen spirit.
The thing outside the window should not be the pen spirit.
The players were not too surprised by Ruan Qing’s response. They had discovered on the first night that this school seemed to be haunted by more than just one ghost.
They had found a long hair in the sewers last night.
This was a boys’ dormitory, so long hair shouldn’t be present. Hence, they dared not leave the dormitory freely at night. Even if there were crucial clues, they had to return before nightfall.
However, the current situation was evidently not optimistic.
As time passed, staying in the dormitory would undoubtedly become dangerous.
Moreover, ghosts came in many forms. Some ghosts existed by attaching themselves to their own corpses, while others didn’t even have a physical form.
Walls and glass windows were obviously no barrier to ghosts without a physical form.
The few people in the room were praying not to be discovered by those formless ghosts.
However, sometimes fear attracted what one feared.
The figure outside the window probably couldn’t get in. The withered hand tapped on the glass, making a considerable noise.
The sound was particularly loud at night, causing the hearts of those inside to race, and it attracted certain dangerous entities in the darkness.
When the second figure appeared on the glass window, the people in the room decisively left.
In the world of infinite horror games, danger and clues always coexisted.
Although it was dangerous at night, it might be an excellent time for investigation, and some clues might only appear at this specific time.
So leaving the dormitory was not necessarily a bad thing.
Now, it was only the second night of entering the instance, and the restrictions on ghosts were probably still significant. Perhaps they could find some important clues.
leaving the dormitory?? after seeing THAT!? they are really fearless
