The clothing store wasn’t open, and the lights were off. It seemed that it wasn’t business hours when the apocalypse struck.
This kind of place was actually the safest.
Xie Xuanlan directly pried open the door. After confirming that there was no danger inside the clothing store, the three of them entered.
Ruan Qing took out his phone to illuminate the store, found the light switch, and turned on the lights.
It was then that they discovered it was a women’s clothing boutique, selling cute little dresses.
It’s not just unsuitable for Ruan Qing to wear; it’s also not suitable for women.
After all, it was the apocalypse. Wearing a dress was simply not suitable for survival.
But Jiang Shuyu had to change clothes. There was too much blood on her, making her a prime target for zombies.
And it would attract zombies.
Jiang Shuyu didn’t hesitate, and she just picked out a set of clothes that didn’t affect her movement much.
She didn’t take off her pants, just cut them shorter and trimmed off the part below the knees, stained with blood.
This way, even if she lifted her skirt completely, there would be no exposure or anything like that.
After Jiang Shuyu went to pick out clothes, Xie Xuanlan looked at Ruan Qing, who was standing beside him, and suggested with a hint of hesitation, “Or... would you like to change too?”
Before Ruan Qing could answer, Xie Xuanlan continued, “Your clothes are too dirty, and there’s blood around your waist. Although it’s dried, it might still attract zombies.”
“If it were any other time, I could drive and take you to a men’s clothing store, but right now...”
Although Xie Xuanlan’s expression didn’t change much, anyone could understand his dilemma.
It was the first time Ruan Qing had heard Xie Xuanlan say so much. He was probably really hesitant and afraid that he wouldn’t want to change clothes.
So he explained so much.
Indeed, as Xie Xuanlan said, the current situation really didn’t support going to find a men’s clothing store.
Fortunately, Ruan Qing didn’t really mind wearing women’s clothing. After Xie Xuanlan finished speaking, he nodded and said ‘okay’ before heading towards the area where clothes were hung.
Ruan Qing wasn’t good at sports anyway, so even if he had to run, he wouldn’t get far, so wearing a skirt wouldn’t make much of a difference to him in terms of movement.
Ruan Qing was also too lazy to choose, so he casually grabbed a clean and neat dress and entered the changing room.
And Xie Xuanlan waited outside.
Xie Xuanlan leaned somewhat unnaturally against the wall, but his peripheral vision couldn’t help but fall on the door of the changing room where the young man had entered.
It seemed like he was anticipating the young man to come out.
Actually, finding another men’s clothing store wouldn’t be difficult for Xie Xuanlan.
However, when he saw the women’s clothes hanging on the rack, he hesitated.
His mind was filled with images of the young man wearing a skirt.
So, somewhat impulsively, Xie Xuanlan suggested to the young man to change his outfit.
In fact, he didn’t have much hope, but unexpectedly, the young man agreed.
The young man had always been obedient, never causing him trouble, and even offering advice whenever possible.
It seemed normal for him to agree.
A few minutes later, the door of the fitting room opened.
Xie Xuanlan had imagined what the young man would look like wearing women’s clothes, considering all possibilities.
But in the instant the young man stepped out, he was still stunned.
The young man was naturally beautiful, and wearing women’s clothes didn’t feel out of place. His long eyelashes trembled like feathers, making him look like a delicate, moving doll.
Women’s clothing usually had more shaping designs than men’s, and when worn by the young man, it highlighted his slender waist, almost as if it could be held in one hand.
The young man chose a black dress, but the black color only made his skin appear more porcelain-like, adding a touch of cleanliness and purity to him.
And his collarbones were partially revealed, mostly hidden within the black dress, prompting one’s imagination.
Ruan Qing noticed Xie Xuanlan’s gaze and glanced at him.
But it seemed he had misunderstood. Xie Xuanlan wasn’t looking at him, but was using something nearby to prop the door.
Ruan Qing suppressed the suspicion in his heart.
Xie Xuanlan probably wasn’t some kind of pervert; he hadn’t shown any strange looks or actions along the way.
Unless...
Ruan Qing’s eyelashes fluttered lightly for a few moments, then he lowered his eyes, concealing the expression in the depths of his eyes.
Jiang Shuyu took a little longer to hem her pants, so she came out a bit later than Ruan Qing.
After she came out, her eyes widened as she looked at Ruan Qing, her eyes full of admiration.
So beautiful.
She couldn’t describe how beautiful the other was.
After hearing the sound of Xie Xuanlan approaching from the door, Jiang Shuyu finally regained her focus. Feeling a bit embarrassed, she coughed awkwardly.
Ruan Qing looked at her after hearing Jiang Shuyu’s cough, then froze.
Because Jiang Shuyu’s hair had become shorter, straight to the ears, and even uneven.
Before, she had waist-length hair, which was perfectly groomed, indicating that she took great care of it.
Seeing Ruan Qing looking over, Jiang Shuyu touched her own hair and casually said, “Long hair is not very convenient now, so I just cut it short.”
Jiang Shuyu finished speaking and smiled. “Anyway, hair can still grow back. When the world returns to normal in the future, I’ll just let it grow again.”
Ruan Qing pursed his lips and didn’t say anything more.
The three of them had hardly rested for a day and night, plus the high tension and escape, they were already exhausted.
After Xie Xuanlan blocked the door, the three of them found a place to rest.
There was a sofa in the clothing store, which could barely accommodate one person.
Ruan Qing and Xie Xuanlan didn’t go to the sofa, obviously leaving it for Jiang Shuyu.
Without hesitation, Jiang Shuyu refused.
Ruan Qing smiled, looked at Jiang Shuyu, and said, “You sleep peacefully, we can’t fit on it.”
Ruan Qing didn’t give Jiang Shuyu a chance to refuse. He walked to the corner, then spread some clothes on the ground.
Jiang Shuyu looked at the young man’s back, opened her mouth, her eyes turned red, and she felt like crying.
Clearly, she wasn’t someone who cried easily.
But for the young man’s gentleness, she always couldn’t help feeling aggrieved and wanting to cry.
Jiang Shuyu knew very well that the young man’s words just now were just to prevent her from feeling burdened.
That man indeed couldn’t sleep on the sofa, but in fact, the young man could easily curl up and sleep.
Xie Xuanlan originally wanted the young man to sleep on the sofa. After all, the young man was too delicate.
But when he saw the young man laying on the ground, he immediately changed his mind and, without hesitation, laid down next to the young man.
Sleeping on the ground... wasn’t so bad after all.
Ruan Qing looked at Xie Xuanlan, who was lying next to him, without saying anything.
After all, Xie Xuanlan’s cot wasn’t particularly close, with about half a meter of distance between them.
To prevent any accidents, the three of them decided to take turns keeping watch, and they kept the lights in the clothing store on.
The first to keep watch was Xie Xuanlan, followed by Ruan Qing, and then Jiang Shuyu.
Ruan Qing had no objections to the order, but Jiang Shuyu was somewhat dissatisfied.
The second person on watch was at the greatest disadvantage, having to wake up halfway through their sleep and not being able to rest properly at all.
She had originally wanted to say that she would take the second watch, but when Xie Xuanlan looked over at her, she stopped herself.
Then she quietly swallowed her words.
Because she seemed to understand this man’s intentions somewhat.
Thank you for the chapter!
