Just when Ruan Qing thought it was over, Yan Ci picked up a bottle of water from the bed and handed it to Ruan Qing.
Ruan Qing reached out to take it but couldn’t. Obviously, Yan Ci intended to feed him.
Seeing this, Ruan Qing could only slightly open his mouth and gently hold the edge of the bottle with his lips.
As he lowered his head to drink, Yan Ci lifted the bottle higher.
Perhaps Yan Ci’s body wasn’t agile enough, or he didn’t understand how much to lift. He lifted it too high, causing a large amount of water to spill out of the bottle in an instant.
“Uh...” Ruan Qing was completely unprepared, unable to swallow in time, the water flowed directly from the corner of his mouth, slid down his fair neck, and eventually soaked into his clothes.
His shirt in front was soaked, sticking to his body.
Summer clothes naturally weren’t thick. Ruan Qing was only wearing a simple shirt. With it soaked like this, his fair skin could be seen directly.
One could even vaguely see the pink color.
Not only was his clothes wet, but the water also choked Ruan Qing, covering his mouth, unable to stop coughing, “Cough... cough...”
Coughing, Ruan Qing’s eyes reddened directly at the corners. A layer of moisture appeared in his eyes, moistening his eye sockets and his long eyelashes.
It looked moist, as if shimmering with a flowing light in Ruan Qing’s eyes, incredibly enchanting.
In reality, Ruan Qing’s current condition was very poor. He fell into the zombie horde earlier, his shirt dirty and stained with black and blood everywhere.
However, it did not diminish his brilliance at all. Instead, it inexplicably revealed a sense of disorderly beauty and brokenness.
Yan Ci stared blankly at Ruan Qing, holding water in his hand, just staring like that.
It seemed like there’s no reaction.
Ruan Qing coughed for more than ten seconds before feeling much better. However, just as he stopped, he was suddenly grabbed by the wrist.
Yan Ci was the one pulling him.
Ruan Qing was startled, but before he could react, Yan Ci fiercely pulled him and he fell into his arms uncontrollably.
Then, with a flip, Yan Ci pressed him down.
Ruan Qing looked at the person on top of him with widened eyes, a hint of panic and confusion appearing in his beautiful eyes.
After he realized what was happening, he tried to push Yan Ci away.
But Yan Ci seemed to have seen through Ruan Qing’s intentions and directly pressed both of his hands on top of his head.
Even as Ruan Qing struggled, the hand holding his wrist tightened slightly, not giving him any chance to break free.
Yan Ci’s hand was large enough to hold both of Ruan Qing’s wrists with just one hand.
Ruan Qing dared not to continue struggling, because if Yan Ci injured him, he would be infected.
On the off chance that he had already been infected, getting infected again would only accelerate the mutation process.
He could only stiffen his body and look panicked at the person oppressing him.
Ruan Qing was truly panicked this time, but after just a few seconds of panic, he suddenly stopped.
Because Yan Ci remained stiff for a long time, just staring at him like that.
As he stared, his other hand impatiently grasped the bed, a hint of irritability appearing in his eyes.
It seemed like he wanted to do something, but didn’t know how to proceed.
Ruan Qing subtly breathed a sigh of relief.
After all, without human consciousness, he was still a corpse.
Presumably, he didn’t possess certain functions that only humans had.
However, Ruan Qing’s feeling of relief seemed a bit immature. Yan Ci scratched the bed a few times before extending his hand to Ruan Qing’s lips.
Ruan Qing was startled and immediately turned his head away.
Because he vividly remembered that Yan Ci had used this hand to break the neck of that zombie.
The hand that had just fed him was the other one, and it was even through a packaging bag, which made him less resistant.
Moreover, zombies ate people.
Ruan Qing observed that the evolution rate of zombies that had fed on humans was faster than that of those who hadn’t.
Yan Ci was so strong that he could even suppress other zombies. Ruan Qing didn’t know how many people Yan Ci had eaten.
Nor did he know how many necks Yan Ci had broken.
So even though Yan Ci’s hand looked clean, even cleaner than his own, Ruan Qing still felt very resistant.
Yan Ci was unaware of Ruan Qing’s resistance. Seeing Ruan Qing avoiding him, the anger in his eyes intensified slightly, and he once again extended his fingers.
Ruan Qing tightly pursed his lips and turned his head away again.
Clearly, he was full of resistance.
Yan Ci seemed a bit impatient. He opened his mouth, but no sound came out.
But the teeth gleaming with coldness made one’s scalp tingle.
It was as if he was threatening Ruan Qing, but Ruan Qing still turned away.
Yan Ci impatiently looked at the person beneath him, opened his mouth again, and stiffly uttered a word.
“Ya.”
Yan Ci’s speech was somewhat unclear, and Ruan Qing didn’t hear what Yan Ci was saying clearly, but the sound startled him.
While other zombies were only capable of emitting “hehe” sounds, Yan Ci already exhibited signs of subconscious memory.
And now he could even speak, which was terrifying.
“Ya.” Yan Ci seemed to see that Ruan Qing didn’t react, so he spoke again, the pronunciation clearer than before.
...Ya?
This word was strange, but the tone was familiar. Ruan Qing looked at the finger Yan Ci was offering, seeming to understand what word Yan Ci wanted to say.
Bite. What he wanted to say should be “bite.” (T/N: The word Yan Ci wants to say was pronounced ‘yao’ in Chinese, which meant ‘bite’. And since he couldn’t say it fully, he only managed to say ‘ya’.)
And “bite” was the word he just said.
Yan Ci was imitating him.
Ruan Qing realized this, and his eyelashes trembled slightly. In the end, he decided not to speak anymore.
At least not in front of Yan Ci.
His ability to imitate was too terrifying.
Perhaps because Ruan Qing’s resistance was quite obvious, Yan Ci, in a fit of anger, wanted to reach out and touch Ruan Qing’s lips again.
But due to some consideration, in the end, he just scratched the bed again, tearing the sheets directly.
After a stalemate for a while, Yan Ci got off Ruan Qing.
Then he walked outside, not knowing what he was going to do.
After Yan Ci’s figure disappeared at the door, Ruan Qing didn’t get out of bed easily. Instead, he waited for several minutes until he didn’t see anyone return before cautiously getting out of bed.
Outside the door were only zombies, making it almost impossible to escape from the doorway.
Ruan Qing slowly walked to the only window in the room and looked out from it.
This room wasn’t located at the perimeter of the factory; when looking out of the window, one could only see the interior of the factory, not the outside.
So looking out... it’s all zombies.
This was a huge factory, occupied by zombies.
It’s filled with blood and corpses everywhere, looking like hell.
Ruan Qing tried to ignore those zombies and corpses, searched among the zombie crowd, but didn’t see Yan Ci’s figure.
It seemed he’s not in the factory.
But he could be elsewhere in the factory.
Ruan Qing carefully observed the structure of the factory and the situation below.
Before he could even find the factory’s exit, his gaze fell upon a certain location below the factory.
Those were... humans?
It seemed there were still living people, and quite a few of them, surrounded by zombies in the corner.
It’s like they’re reserve food kept by the zombies.
Ruan Qing felt that one of the figures seemed familiar, as if it was Jiang Shuyu, who had fallen off the wall with him.
But the distance was a bit too far, and the view was blocked by zombies, so Ruan Qing was somewhat uncertain.
In fact, Ruan Qing was not mistaken; it was indeed Jiang Shuyu.
