As they ran, Han Ze suddenly stopped and pulled Ruan Qing into his arms, then quickly moved to hide behind the corner of a wall.
Ruan Qing didn’t struggle at all, obediently letting Han Ze hold him, and together they warily watched the passage ahead.
Han Ze’s eyes were also filled with vigilance. He lowered his head and whispered to Ruan Qing, “Something is approaching us.”
Hearing this, Ruan Qing lightened his breathing, fearing to make any sound that might give away their position.
There was a type of monster in this labyrinth, a creature that was not quite human.
The monster was extremely ferocious, with a combat strength that was somewhat absurd, and it was incredibly difficult to kill.
Fortunately, the monster’s eyesight was not very good; it was mainly sensitive to sound. As long as no sound was made, it could usually be avoided.
The sound was getting closer and closer, and the two of them stared nervously at the passage.
About seven or eight seconds later, a few monsters appeared in the passage.
Ruan Qing subconsciously gripped Han Ze’s clothes a bit harder, his fair fingers turning slightly white from the force.
One, two, three, four...
Eight in total.
There were a full eight of them.
Han Ze was confident he could handle one monster, but if there were two, he would basically have to run away, not to mention there were eight.
If the two of them were discovered, they would most likely die here.
Moreover, it was completely different inside the labyrinth compared to outside; in the labyrinth, Han Ze wouldn’t be able to protect him with his life.
Because without Han Ze, he wouldn’t be able to make it out of the labyrinth alive by himself.
If they silently and stealthily left in the direction the monsters were coming from, they could avoid them, but the problem was that direction led deeper into the labyrinth.
The danger there was definitely no less than facing these eight monsters head-on.
Moreover, the time for the labyrinth to change was approaching.
The best scenario would be for them to stay silent and leave immediately after these monsters pass by.
Han Ze stared intently at the eight monsters, ready to flee with the person in his arms if they were discovered.
The monsters had very poor eyesight, almost only able to detect moving objects.
So even though the monsters were getting closer to the two of them, none of them noticed the two living people hiding in the nearby corner.
The monsters came closer and closer, almost close enough to feel their breath.
It was terrifying and horrifying.
Ruan Qing averted his gaze, burying his head in Han Ze’s chest without making a sound.
The eight monsters did not notice the presence of the two, slowly passing by them, seemingly heading deeper into the labyrinth.
Ruan Qing’s beautiful eyes were filled with tension and unease, as the time for the maze to change was rapidly approaching.
The monster wasn’t moving very fast.
If this continued, it was highly likely that when the maze shifted, they would end up in the same place as the monster.
At that point, not only would they have to confront the monster, but they would also need to find a new path, making it impossible to escape quickly.
However, Ruan Qing had no other options. If he took the risk of alerting the monster, the situation wouldn’t improve, either.
Ruan Qing could only pray in his heart for the monster to leave quickly.
Perhaps Ruan Qing’s prayers were effective, as the monster’s speed suddenly increased and it was about to reach the end of the passage.
As long as the monster turned the corner, even if the maze changed, they wouldn’t be in the same place.
Just as Ruan Qing was beginning to feel a slight sense of relief, a sound came from the entrance of the passage.
The monster, about to turn into another passage, stopped abruptly and turned its head in unison towards the source of the sound.
Ruan Qing’s heart leaped the moment he heard the sound, and he instinctively looked towards the passage.
It was Lu Rufeng and Ji Zhiyuan.
It’s over.
Because the monster was already at the corner, it was a blind spot from the entrance of the passage, so Lu Rufeng and Ji Zhiyuan hadn’t seen the monster.
But Lu Rufeng and Ji Zhiyuan had seen Han Ze.
And they also saw the young man Han Ze was holding.
The two of them had been in a state of fear and worry since they knew the young man had entered the maze, afraid that he would die in some corner of it.
In this state of mind, their patience had long been at its limit.
Upon seeing Han Ze, their eyes turned icy cold, and without thinking, they launched an attack at Han Ze.
At this moment, Han Ze could no longer stay still. He wanted to escape while holding the young man in his arms.
But the monster at the end of the passage was already charging towards them, and ahead were Lu Rufeng and Ji Zhiyuan.
There was no route for escape.
Han Ze leaped into the air, holding Ruan Qing to avoid their attack.
However, the moment Han Ze moved, his figure was locked onto by the monster, and two monsters pounced on him.
The remaining monsters pounced on Lu Rufeng and Ji Zhiyuan.
Lu Rufeng and Ji Zhiyuan had encountered such monsters before and immediately began fighting them.
Although Han Ze was also surrounded by monsters, his situation was much more difficult.
Not only did he have to hold Ruan Qing, but he also had to avoid attacks from the monsters and the other two people. He was completely on the defensive.
This situation was definitely not good.
Ruan Qing spoke softly, “Find a place to put me down. I won’t move from where you leave me.”
This way, monsters wouldn’t attack him and wouldn’t be a burden to Han Ze.
After a moment of hesitation, Han Ze took advantage of the monster’s force to create some distance and placed Ruan Qing in a relatively safe corner.
Then he turned back to attack the monsters that followed.
After being put down by Han Ze, Ruan Qing sat motionless in the corner, not daring to move to avoid attracting the monsters’ attention.
Fortunately, the sounds of the fight were quite loud, keeping the monsters focused on the three people.
Ruan Qing glanced at the time, his eyes filled with tension. There was only one minute left before the maze would change.
Ruan Qing bit his lip as he watched the three figures fighting. Finally, with twenty-five seconds remaining, he clenched his sleeves and whispered, “The maze will change in twenty seconds. Lure the monsters to those two and then come back immediately.”
Ruan Qing’s voice was almost inaudible, not attracting the monsters’ attention at all.
However, Han Ze, who was wearing an earpiece, heard him.
Without hesitation, he lured the monsters towards the two others, taking Ji Zhiyuan’s attack head-on and using the force to charge towards Ruan Qing.
Seeing Han Ze rushing towards him, Ruan Qing breathed a sigh of relief.
But just as he began to relax, his heart tightened again.
Another monster appeared not far away, attracted by the noise of the fight.
As Ruan Qing noticed the monster, the maze began to shift.
The enormous maze started to shake, the walls twisting and turning, the previous paths were sealed off, and new ones emerged.
Ruan Qing’s eyes widened as he watched a wall suddenly appear in front of him, blocking Han Ze in another space just as he was about to reach him.
Ahhhhhh
