The teacher rushed up like the wind.
Ning Su and Ling Xiao immediately let go of each other’s hands—one hand slipped into a pocket, the other was placed behind the back.
But the sharp-eyed teacher, who had always detested early love, had already noticed and had no intention of letting them off the hook.
“Are you two in an early relationship?” The female teacher, wearing black high heels and a black suit, sternly questioned them.
Ning Su: “Of course not.”
Teacher: “You were holding hands, and you say it’s not an early romance?”
Ning Changfeng: “?”
Ning Su: “Is holding hands considered early love? Many female classmates hold hands.”
Ning Changfeng: “Yeah!”
Teacher: “How can you compare yourselves to female classmates?”
Ning Su widened his eyes in surprise: “Teacher, how can you be so sexist?”
Teacher: “...”
The teacher paused for a few seconds before continuing, “I saw you two were about to kiss!”
Ning Su was stunned for a moment and looked at Ling Xiao.
Ling Xiao’s hand, the one that had held Ning Su’s, was still in the pocket of his black school pants. The fabric of the pocket, stiff and glossy, moved slightly. Ling Xiao leaned against the window, backlit, looking at Ning Su. In the half-shadow, before Ning Su could clearly see his expression, Ling Xiao turned to the teacher.
“Teacher, classmate Ning Su might have scored full marks on the last math exam.”
The teacher was taken aback.
Another teacher who had rushed over quickly said, “Yes, yes, let Ning Su get in quickly. Don’t delay his exam.”
The female teacher then asked Ling Xiao, “What about you?”
Ling Xiao: “...”
Ning Su: “...”
A male teacher said, “The exam is about to start, let them in quickly. We can talk about whatever it is after the exam.”
Ning Su and Ling Xiao were only allowed into the examination hall two minutes before the exam started.
By this time, the answer sheets had already been handed out.
Ning Su carefully filled in his name and examination number, then stared blankly at the numbers on the test paper.
“I saw the two of you were about to kiss just now!”
At that moment, they were just standing close—how could they have been about to kiss?
How could they possibly have started a relationship so early?
One of them is 188 years old, the other 23—they’re practically in an old relationship.
No, wait—they couldn’t possibly be in a relationship, right?
Why didn’t Ling Xiao explain just now? They weren’t about to kiss at all; they were just quietly discussing a problem!
Ning Su clenched his pen and turned to look at Ling Xiao.
The exam papers were being handed out.
The papers were passed from the front row to the back. Ling Xiao reached out to take a stack, kept one for himself, and passed the rest back. He glanced down at the paper.
Ling Xiao: “...”
Ning Su: “...”
Ning Su pressed his forehead and began working on the exam.
When Ning Su was in college, he often worked as a tutor to earn money.
With the school’s prestige behind him, tutoring was respected, and the income was decent. It was a very good part-time job.
The students he tutored most frequently were high schoolers, so he had reviewed the key points many times. There was no problem with his Chinese, Math, or English.
He quickly finished the exam and continued observing the students in the exam room.
The death of a classmate had cast an even heavier shadow over the students’ hearts, making this exam more stressful than the previous two.
The room was filled with the sounds of pens scratching on paper and the rustling of turning pages, with everyone racing against time, as if they feared the knowledge in their minds would disappear in the next second.
After learning that they could inexplicably lose their memory during the exam, the players could easily understand this tension.
Let alone the students here, even they were feeling the pressure.
As high school seniors already under immense psychological stress, it’s a wonder they weren’t crying.
Just as he thought that, Ning Su heard the sound of crying.
A girl had grabbed her exam paper and was sobbing uncontrollably.
The other students around her didn’t even glance over. Their pens moved even faster on the answer sheets, and sweat began to bead on many of their foreheads.
In the afternoon, many more students were dragged out of the exam room by the instructor compared to the morning.
In such an intense atmosphere, having four exams back-to-back in one day was too much even for the players, especially the last exam on comprehensive humanities, which lasted three hours.
Once the exam ended, everyone looked exhausted.
The teacher from the Student Affairs Office, the one with glasses, came to find them again. “I’ll take you to the dormitory. We’ll assign dorms first, then classes.”
One of the players asked him, “Teacher, when will the results be out?”
The entire day passed without any incidents, and all the players safely headed toward the dormitory building.
So, it was very likely that they had to wait for their exam results to come out, as the results might be the first trigger for the danger mechanism.
Teacher: “Normally, the papers can be graded by tonight, and the results will be out tomorrow morning.”
“...”
The teachers really didn’t need to work so hard.
There were two dormitory buildings for each gender, with the girls’ dorms in the east and the boys’ dorms in the west.
As the boys and girls were about to separate, the Gu Witch walked over to the boys’ group, under the shocked gaze of many.
In fact, many people had already noticed when the game first started.
The Gu Witch was wearing the school pants.
At Qingyi Middle School, the school uniform consists of pants for boys and skirts for girls.
Some people had speculated and discussed this earlier, but seeing the Gu Witch walk into the boys’ group still came as a shock.
The Gu Witch was a male...
Some people were dazed, some heartbroken, but no one dared to say anything.
The Gu Witch remained calm, ignoring the stares from others, only glancing in Ning Su’s direction.
The dorms at Qingyi Middle School come in three types: single rooms, double rooms, and six-person rooms.
It was obvious that the rooms were assigned based on grades and family background.
Since their exam results hadn’t been released yet, they were all assigned to six-person rooms.
Ning Changfeng immediately pulled Ning Su and Ling Xiao to stand at the door of a dorm room.
The Gu Witch took half a step in that direction but hesitated for a few seconds, and during that time, three other people had already stood by that door.
Ning Su and his group were assigned to Room 307. Besides the three of them, there were three other male players: Lu Yue, Zhou Xiang, and Ji Zeming.
Ji Zeming was part of the Yinhua Guild.
Lu Yue and Zhou Xiang belong to the Jiuxing Guild; the two were good friends.
The dormitory was spacious, with beds on top and desks below.
Ling Xiao chose the bed on the right side. Ning Su initially wanted to take the one on the left, but Ning Changfeng grabbed him and said, “Sleep on the bed next to Ling Xiao.”
Ning Su: “...”
In the end, the three of them chose the beds on the right side. Ning Su slept in the middle, with Ning Changfeng in front and Ling Xiao behind him.
As Ning Changfeng was tidying up his bed, he asked, “Before the exam at noon, did a teacher say you were in an early relationship?”
Ning Su glanced at Ling Xiao, “We were quietly discussing the dungeon.”
Ning Changfeng said, “I knew it. How could that be possible? The teachers at this school are really twisted.”
Ning Su: “...”
Poor dad Ning I think it will be a shock when he sees that their relationship is not so pure 🫣
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update
I wonder if Ning Su even realizes what holding hands means, or all those other ambiguous actions between them. He seems too pure and innocent for that, but it was also mentioned that he'd read romance novels. Maybe he already considers romantic relationship between them? I need his pov asap
