By the time the school security guard arrived after hearing the commotion, the study room had already returned to silence. The players were all either buried in their studies or asleep.
The players didn’t return to the dormitory until 12:30.
The six boys from Dorm 307 walked back together.
Lu Yue was holding Zhou Xiang’s arm.
He could no longer remember where he lived.
Ning Su asked Lu Yue, “When did you discover that Zhou Xiang had lost his memory?”
Lu Yue replied calmly, “The first moment I saw him this morning.”
When Ning Su woke up in the morning, Zhou Xiang was sitting on the bed in a daze. It wasn’t until Lu Yue called his name that he looked up.
Lu Yue smiled and told him to get up for morning study.
He knew everything.
He might have been afraid that Zhou Xiang would forget about him, so after breakfast, he talked to Zhou Xiang about the noodles they had eaten together and the games they had played together.
Ji Zeming said, “So, you all knew, and I was the only clueless one. If anything like this happens again, make sure to speak up. We need to help each other.”
Lu Yue smiled and said, “Okay,” then moved his hand from Zhou Xiang’s arm to his hand, holding on to him, who remembered nothing.
Ning Su saw this.
Although there were still lights on in the school late at night, many had been turned off. There was only one every so far, barely enough to prevent someone from tripping in the dark.
Ning Su walked between Ning Changfeng and Ling Xiao, and in the darkness, he slowly took Ling Xiao’s hand.
Ling Xiao quickly grasped his hand back.
Ning Changfeng said, “Don’t worry, go back and get a good night’s sleep. There will definitely be a solution.”
Ning Su replied, “Yeah.”
Ning Changfeng looked at Ling Xiao, “Right, Ling Xiao? There will be a way, right?”
Ling Xiao gave a low “Mm,” completely enclosing Ning Su’s hand.
Ning Changfeng felt much more at ease. “Good thing we brought you along.”
Ning Su: “...”
Ning Su said, “I’ll go back to the dormitory to get something and then go check on the president.”
Ning Changfeng replied, “Alright, go ahead. I can’t go, so you go and see her.”
When Ning Changfeng went back to wash up, he didn’t notice that when Ning Su went to see Shi Tianzhu, Ling Xiao was also gone.
Ning Su brought Manman along to keep Shi Tianzhu company.
It was his first time being a father, and he only then realized that even though Manman was four years old, it wasn’t very appropriate for a little girl to be in the boys’ dormitory.
Since he was worried about Shi Tianzhu, he brought Manman over to keep her company.
With all the players’ skills and weapons cooling down, even if he forcibly brought the two children out in this strange world with other monsters, their abilities were also limited.
Even so, staying by Shi Tianzhu’s side was still a good thing.
A person experiencing amnesia might feel lonely.
Ning Su said to Shi Tianzhu, “President, I’m at your service anytime.”
He could decide with Ning Changfeng to protect her, but he wouldn’t say it to her this way.
Shi Tianzhu wasn’t a delicate girl who needed protection.
Shi Tianzhu smiled and said, “Continue tutoring me in math tomorrow at noon, but we might need to go back to high school math, or maybe even middle school, or possibly even elementary school math.”
Ning Su was taken aback for a moment and said, “Alright.”
As he was about to leave, Ning Su hugged her again, like he did last time at the Yinhua, and softly said, “President, I don’t want you to forget me.”
Shi Tianzhu gently touched his soft hair and smiled, saying, “I’ll try to remember you until the end.”
Under the streetlamp not far from the girls’ dormitory, Ling Xiao was waiting for him.
They walked back side by side.
Ling Xiao asked, “Are you still scared?”
Ning Su replied honestly, “At first, I was a little scared. I was afraid that you and Mom and Dad would all forget me.”
He scratched his chin. “In the beginning, none of you knew me, but for some reason, I was afraid you would forget me.”
“But now, I’m not afraid anymore.”
Ling Xiao made a sound of acknowledgment, then looked at Ning Su and said, “Memories can be taken away, but emotions won’t be.”
Ning Su paused for a moment, then smiled and nodded. “Yeah!”
After that brief gathering in the self-study room, the players began to help each other.
Zhou Xiang mentioned that not seeing the teacher’s strange eyes would prevent the teacher from noticing them. This was proven true in experiments.
Currently, there were only a few players experiencing amnesia, so once this was confirmed, covering for each other wasn’t too difficult.
At breakfast, Shi Tianzhu seemed normal.
At lunch, Ning Su continued to tutor Shi Tianzhu as usual, not just in mathematics, but in other subjects as well.
Shi Tianzhu sat there, repeatedly memorizing the knowledge in her mind.
Even though she forgot much more than she remembered, she kept memorizing and reviewing over and over again.
She said, “If the amount of memory lost every minute is fixed, then the more I remember, the more I can compensate for it.”
Perhaps because of this, her process of losing memory lasted much longer than the other players who were experiencing amnesia. She held on for three more days until the eve of the second preliminary exam.
After lunch that afternoon, she walked past Gu Witch and the Human Pupa Master without any reaction and headed to the crowded bulletin board.
The bulletin board at Qingyi High School was very large, comparable to an entire wall of a lecture hall.
This was because the school posts the grades of all the senior students for the entire year.
The top ten students in both the liberal arts and sciences take up a large section, with green fonts, and crowns in different colors—gold, silver, and bronze—beside the top three names.
Meanwhile, the names and grades of the bottom 100 students were displayed in glaring red, with no regard for their dignity, as a wake-up call.
Aside from the players, few students with poor grades would come here to look.
Ning Su and the others followed Shi Tianzhu to the bulletin board and were checking the grades when Shi He walked over, seemingly out of nowhere.
Shi He said, “I only scored three points higher than the second place.”
The person next to him replied, “That’s already incredible! If you say that, how are the rest of us supposed to live?”
“...”
Ning Changfeng crossed his arms with a proud look, saying, “In the whole grade, only one person scored a perfect mark in math.”
Ning Su: “...”
There’s no need to compare with someone like that.
Ning Su sighed, “Ah, it’s just me. And what’s up with my comprehensive liberal arts score, only 211.”
“......”
Ning Changfeng: “Yeah, if you scored 35 more points on the liberal arts comprehensive exam, you’d be the top of the grade.”
Ning Su: “Only an idiot would aim to be the top of the grade.”
“......”
Shi He sneered, “Sour grapes from someone who can’t achieve it. Why don’t you take the exam first before boasting?”
Some people only heard the provocation and arrogance.
Some people detected a hint of sarcasm.
Some people sensed a deeper meaning.
The Gu Witch, who had just returned with the Human Pupa Master, glanced at Ning Su.
Ning Su said to him, “Be careful.”
The Gu Witch nodded, “I know. Wang Zhiqiu ranked third in the last practice test, Xia Mengyu ranked seventh, and the student who was dragged out of the other exam room ranked fifth.”
These were the memory loss rules they should have known about in the exam room—you couldn’t score too well.
Unfortunately, some people hadn’t noticed such obvious hints.
Shi He’s face turned pale. “What nonsense are you talking about! I’m the top of the grade! Even the grade director and the dean treat me with respect, like I’m a treasure!”
He might already know that even top students would end up in the Reflection Hall, but he had always refused to believe it. “Even if I go, it’s because the principal praised me. It’s different!”
Shi Tianzhu frowned. “No, there’s something wrong with this setting.”
Several players looked at her in surprise.
Even the Gu Witch looked at her, her expression complicated.
Shi Tianzhu might have already forgotten about him and the Human Pupa Master, showing just how fragmented and faded her memory had become. Yet, even in such a state, she could still notice a flaw in the instance setting.
All the surrounding players looked at her with varied expressions, waiting for her to speak.
She opened her mouth but looked at them blankly.
At that moment, there was a profound silence. Several players quietly averted their gazes.
Thanks for the update
