A player said in a low voice, "I handed in my exam early. I saw several of them fill their answer sheets with [solutions] and [answers]."
"Solutions? As in math solutions?"
The player nodded.
Everyone was taken aback again.
Zhou Xiang had personal information engraved in the palm of his left hand, and the character "解" (solution) engraved on his right.
To regulate students' answer format at Qingyi Middle School, one point would be deducted from math problems that didn’t include the word "解." Conversely, if the character was there, students earned a point.
They all knew this.
They had engraved this character on their bodies.
Whenever they didn't know what to write on their test papers, they would fill the blank spaces with the character "解," starting from the first language paper and continuing all the way to the last.
That way, they not only participated in the exams but also earned a point.
A player asked, "At the start of the exam, did they just sit there, neatly writing down the character?"
Another player replied, "Considering they lost all their memories and couldn't recognize anything, being in such a completely unfamiliar world must have made them anxious. Bowing their heads and writing might have been like a baby’s mimicry, sitting quietly to learn, afraid of drawing attention."
The first player fell silent.
While the group was quiet, Shi Tianzhu raised her head and asked Ning Su, "Is this the exam? Did I do it right?"
Ning Su nodded and said, "Yes."
He addressed Shi Tianzhu and the other amnesiac players, "You all did it right."
He pointed to the admission ticket on Shi Tianzhu's desk and, like teaching children, explained to them, "This is an admission ticket."
"Admission ticket," several amnesiac players echoed.
"Like in the previous round, take the characters on the admission ticket and write them on the exam paper. Don’t carve them into your skin anymore."
Players would lose all their memories, their minds completely blank, just like newborns.
Once all their memories had been completely devoured, the strange, invisible monster would discard them like useless garbage.
In other words, the monster would retreat from their minds, and they would roughly retain the memories formed afterward.
"Roughly" because their bodies and brains had been somewhat damaged.
This was what Ning Su had discovered over the past two days, as he tirelessly taught Shi Tianzhu.
Shi Tianzhu said, "I understand."
Pointing to the three characters above, she said, "This is my name, Shi Tianzhu."
This was what Ning Su had been repeatedly telling her over the past two days, and she remembered it.
Then she said, “I know that one plus one equals two, and that two times two equals four.”
Yin Xingyu froze, his face awkward as he averted his gaze.
Ning Su proudly said, “Correct.”
The other amnesiac players all looked at Shi Tianzhu, their gazes flickering slightly.
There was finally some color and emotion on their previously blank, confused faces.
They lowered their heads to look at the first thing they recognized, their admission tickets, projecting the words on the tickets into their empty minds.
The other players listened to Shi Tianzhu’s words, looked at the words in the hands of these amnesiac players, and observed their expressions. For a moment, their feelings were mixed.
Strangely, they felt a sense of inspiration and emotion from these players—players who they initially believed were doomed to die, whose amnesia had turned them into useless beings.
If the amnesiac players could carve answers in blood on their bodies, and fill four exam papers with "solutions" and "answers," all for a single point, just to secure one of the bottom 100 spots in the grade...
If Shi Tianzhu, who had lost her memory, could still learn starting from "one plus one" and "two times two equals four"...
Then what right did they have to complain? What were they still afraid of?
A new exam started soon after.
The amnesiac players continued writing "solutions" on their papers, and this time they finally scored a point.
In the previous exam, they had been writing the "solutions" on their arms and hands, but now they could write quickly and smoothly without even looking.
Meanwhile, the top scorer from the last exam bowed his head, drawing the characters and numbers he saw on the test paper in the empty spaces of his answer sheet, and ultimately turned in a blank exam paper, scoring zero.
In the second exam, students were still being dragged out.
Now the players could recognize many of these students. The ones being dragged out no longer had to shout, “I’m ranked third in the grade.” The players already knew these were top 10 students with excellent grades.
Ning Su memorized the time each student was dragged out, and after the exam, he found out the names of every one of them.
On the night the preliminary exam ended, it was the only time the seniors of Qingyi High School had to rest.
During dinner that evening, in the cafeteria, there was a player sitting next to every amnesiac player.
“If you have time, I can teach you the basic situation and common knowledge of this place.”
Completely losing their previous memories, these players were anxious and lonely in this unfamiliar world, easily becoming withdrawn.
Not every player with amnesia was as fortunate as Shi Tianzhu and Zhou Xiang to have someone sincerely accompany them.
Some entered this game alone.
One of the amnesiac players, a girl with two braids, teared up upon hearing this, and her tears fell into her bowl of white rice.
Ji Zeming said, "I didn't expect to feel warmth in this cold game. Everyone seems pretty nice, huh?"
Ning Changfeng smiled noncommittally. "It's easy for people to do good deeds in a moment of emotion or impulsiveness, but whether they can stick to it is another matter."
Ji Zeming turned to Ning Changfeng and asked, "What about you?"
Ning Changfeng thought for a moment and then looked at Ning Su. "How about I teach Shi Tianzhu?"
Ning Su: "..."
Ji Zeming: "?"
Ning Changfeng took a sip of water, cleared his throat, and said, "There's something I haven't told you. Before the exam, I went to the grade director and told him that if I could rank in the top 30, he should transfer me to Class 5. He agreed."
Class 5 is the class Shi Tianzhu is in.
Ning Su: "..."
Ji Zeming: "???"
Scheming, indeed.
Ji Zeming said, "Isn't that... inappropriate? You and our president are mortal enemies."
It was obvious Ji Zeming thought he had ulterior motives.
But it wasn't up to him to decide. Shi Tianzhu had previously said that if she lost her memory, they should all listen to Ning Su.
Ji Zeming looked at Ning Su.
Ning Su didn't say yes or no and replied matter-of-factly, "You're all going to be in the same class. If you have time to teach our president, who can stop you?"
Ning Changfeng let out a sigh of relief. "Relax, I'm pretty reliable."
Then, he turned to Ling Xiao. "Right?"
Ling Xiao: "..."
What does this have to do with me?
As Ning Changfeng's only friend, Ling Xiao responded with a hum to show his support.
Ning Su: "..."
Do you really think he's reliable?
Points to be scored with Papa Ning 🤣
