The moment Ruan Qing heard Xu He's voice, his body stiffened even more. His eyes reddened at the corners, and he shook his head in panic, signaling that he had no intention of leaving.
Xu He looked at the flustered figure shaking his head and let out a cold laugh. "If not, then why were you looking at the door?"
"I... I..." Ruan Qing was extremely uneasy, unable to get any words out.
But Xu He wasn’t about to let him off. His voice was icy as he pressed, "You what?"
Ruan Qing’s face turned pale, and he spoke in a small voice, "I was just... scared..."
"Scared?" Xu He replied casually, "Scared of what?"
"That we’ve turned into ghosts?"
As soon as Xu He’s words fell, everyone in the room froze. In the next second, all eyes turned to Ruan Qing.
The room fell into dead silence.
The intensity of their gazes was impossible to ignore. Ruan Qing’s slender frame trembled slightly. He pressed his lips together tightly and didn’t say another word.
Even if he claimed he wasn’t afraid, it would be obvious that he was lying.
He was terrified of ghosts—more than he was of death itself.
And this fear was harder to hide than any other emotion.
The five of them stared at the silent figure with icy coldness in their eyes. In truth, they had already sensed this answer back during the kidnapping incident.
The young man was afraid of the dark and of being alone. It was almost certain that he was afraid of ghosts.
At the time, they hadn’t cared about it. But now, they couldn’t ignore it.
Because they were dead.
They had died before anything could even begin.
But it didn’t matter. A living body was just a vessel, and they could take one whenever they wanted.
The five of them calmly averted their gazes, and the room returned to its previous quiet.
This time, Ruan Qing didn’t dare to look around anymore. He stood obediently by the door, not daring to move a muscle.
Ghosts didn’t need to eat, even if they had been brought back to life. But Ruan Qing did.
Seeing that it was getting late, Duan Ming snapped his fingers lightly, and the dining table in the living room was instantly filled with food, steaming hot and looking incredibly appetizing.
He tilted his chin slightly toward Ruan Qing and commanded, "Eat."
Ruan Qing glanced at the food on the table but didn’t move for a long time.
As a player of the infinite horror game, he knew better than to casually eat food in a dungeon. Lan Xu had once mentioned that, in this particular instance, the food couldn’t be trusted after the fourth day—let alone when it was offered by vengeful ghosts.
But Ruan Qing had no choice. Slowly, he walked over to the dining table and sat down, stiffly accepting the chopsticks Duan Ming handed him.
Ruan Qing’s face turned pale as he looked at the spread of dishes, as if he were staring at something terrifying.
However, his gaze soon froze. His eyes landed on the spoon beside his hand.
The table was set with both dishes and soup, so naturally, there were spoons as well.
The spoon wasn’t made of porcelain but rather silver, and under sufficient light, it could faintly reflect the images around it.
Ruan Qing picked up the spoon and stared at the blurry reflection of himself. His slender fingers tightened nervously around the handle.
Ruan Qing didn’t blink, but the reflection in the spoon did. It opened its mouth silently, staring back at him.
—"Switch."
Without hesitation, Ruan Qing closed his eyes and relinquished control of his body.
After the switch, the new occupant of Ruan Qing’s body accidentally knocked the spoon, causing it to fall under the table.
The dining table had a tablecloth, and once the spoon fell, it was completely hidden beneath it, no longer able to reflect anything.
Inside the mirror dimension, Ruan Qing instantly lost sight of the scene. Everything around him turned pitch black, and he could only faintly hear some sounds.
But the sounds were too faint, almost impossible to make out.
Meanwhile, after the switch, the five people in the room suddenly sensed something was wrong. They turned sharply toward the figure whose aura had completely changed.
The warmth that had briefly returned to the room vanished in an instant. The air grew heavy again, and a suffocating silence spread as the yin energy in the room thickened, almost becoming tangible.
Ren Yanqing recognized the aura immediately. His eyes widened in shock as he stared at ‘Ruan Qing,’ even a hint of disbelief flickering in his gaze.
Because… that was his aura.
A ridiculous thought crossed Ren Yanqing’s mind. He realized he might have mistaken the person he loved all along.
The one he had fallen for wasn’t himself. The person sitting at the table now… was the real him.
And this was the person he had wanted to kill and seal away.
What on earth was going on!? Who had been in that body just now!?
Not only was Ren Yanqing’s gaze filled with danger and shock, but the other four were equally stunned.
However, they didn’t realize that this was the real Ren Qing. Instead, they thought some reckless ghost had dared to possess the young man right in front of them.
The four of them stared fixedly at ‘Ruan Qing,’ who was sitting at the table, their killing intent almost overflowing from their eyes.
Xu He looked at the person holding the chopsticks and calmly eating, his voice icy cold. "Get out!"
‘Ruan Qing’ ignored Xu He and continued to eat elegantly, as if he hadn’t heard a word.
‘Ruan Qing’ also didn’t bother pretending to be Ruan Qing anymore. Even though they shared the same body, anyone could tell the difference between him and Ruan Qing.
Xu He’s eyes were cold and ruthless, a far cry from the gentleness he had shown Ruan Qing earlier. He kicked the dining table hard, causing it to shatter into pieces with a loud crash.
"Get out!"
