Ruan Qing, who had just regained consciousness, heard the doctor’s words and hesitated about whether to open his eyes.
After all, if the doctor asked how he got poisoned, he wasn’t quite sure how to explain. He couldn’t say he poisoned himself.
Ruan Qing thought for a moment and ultimately pretended to still be unconscious.
“Poisoned?” Yang Chenjin listened to the doctor’s words with narrowed his eyes, looking extremely dangerous.
He seemed like a venomous snake eyeing its prey.
Yang Chenjin looked at the doctor and asked, “What poison did he get?”
“Morning Dawn Flower,” the doctor said, looking towards the direction of the balcony. (T/N: I’m not really sure if this was actually morning glory, but then morning glory is not exactly poisonous, so let’s just assume that this was a fictional flower.)
The balcony of this room faced the large garden of the Yang family’s villa.
The most abundant flower in the Yang family’s large garden was the ‘Morning Dawn Flower,’ covering vast areas and creating a picturesque scene, like a fairyland.
The ‘Morning Dawn Flower’ was exceptionally beautiful, surpassing even roses in elegance. It stood out even among a myriad of other flowers.
However, ordinary people wouldn’t plant such flowers.
One reason was that the ‘Morning Dawn Flower’ was very expensive, and the other reason was that it was a poisonous flower.
Even if accidentally ingested or if its sap touched a skin wound, it could cause poisoning within seconds.
People with weak constitutions, even if their skin accidentally touched the stem or leaves of the Morning Dawn Flower, would suffer mild poisoning. If not treated promptly, it could be life-threatening.
In fact, not only was the ‘Morning Dawn Flower’ in the Yang family’s garden poisonous; most of the flowers and plants there were toxic, such as oleander and mandrake.
However, the ‘Morning Dawn Flower’ was the most beautiful and had the strongest toxicity.
Yang Chenjin was stunned by this answer; he never expected that the person on the bed was poisoned by the ‘Morning Dawn Flower.’
He had initially thought someone had poisoned the other.
Yang Chenjin’s heart sank, and he even felt a chill running through his body.
He was aware that the flowers in the Yang family garden were toxic to ordinary humans, but he had never considered this before.
He never thought those flowers would injure the young man...
The doctor looked at the young man on the bed and slowly spoke. “He probably accidentally touched them; the toxicity is not very strong. It’s just that after he touched the ‘Morning Dawn Flower,’ he might not have known it was poisonous and didn’t immediately deal with the toxins. After all, not everyone recognizes the ‘Morning Dawn Flower.’”
The doctor paused for a moment, then continued with a somewhat heavy tone, “His body is too weak, and the intense physical activity after being poisoned has accelerated blood circulation...”
Yang Chenjin coldly looked at the doctor, “What does that mean?”
The doctor sighed slightly. “The toxins have already spread throughout his body.”
Yang Chenjin’s hand tightened slightly; a wave of unprecedented fear and panic rose in his heart, something he couldn’t suppress no matter how hard he tried.
He felt a chill all over his body, and his hands trembled slightly.
Although the doctor’s words were tactful, the meaning was already clear.
Yang Chenjin lowered his head, looking at the young man on the bed with a complexion as pale as paper, his expression filled with a mix of complexity and confusion. “Will he... die?”
The doctor, looking at the young man on the bed, took a deep breath and ultimately spoke the truth. “The Morning Dawn Flower is extremely poisonous. If it had been treated immediately after poisoning, there might have been a chance. Once the toxins spread throughout the body, there’s no cure. Unless... a miracle happens.”
It was obviously too late now; once the toxins spread throughout the body, even if a god came, they couldn’t save him.
The term “miracle” was just a way to console people.
Before Yang Chenjin could speak, Yang Chenyan came back with a few people in white coats.
Anyone could tell at a glance that the people in white coats were doctors, and they could also see that Yang Chenyan had forcibly brought people back.
After all, those people were still trembling, their faces filled with fear and terror, obviously scared by something.
Yang Chenyan untied the ropes binding a few people, his face cold as he gestured towards the person on the bed, “Take a look at him.”
Yang Chenjin didn’t say much, just sat at the bedside with a somewhat absent-minded expression.
The expression on his face seemed somewhat bewildered, mixed with a trace of being at a loss.
It also showed a certain fragility, something that he had never experienced, even when being sacrificed.
Yang Chenjin did indeed feel thoroughly bewildered, as if hope had suddenly vanished from his life. Even the so-called plans of the Yang family no longer sparked any interest in him.
Yang Chenjin even felt his mind completely blank.
Only one thought remained.
The person on the bed would die.
Once this thought crossed his mind, Yang Chenjin felt as if his heart were tightly gripped, making breathing difficult.
He even felt like he was submerged in stagnant water, that suffocating feeling of not being able to breathe, akin to the agony of drowning, only able to helplessly and despairingly watch the water surface getting farther away.
No respite for a moment to catch his breath.
Clearly, this person was just a sacrifice, an insignificant offering in their Yang family’s “God Creation” plan.
Clearly, just a sacrifice...
Yang Chenjin struggled to suppress the suffocation, looking towards the doctors Yang Chenyan brought back, his eyes carrying a subtle and imperceptible hope.
Hope that it was just a misdiagnosis.
The group of doctors dared not say anything after Yang Chenyan spoke, immediately starting to examine the person on the bed, afraid that a delay might lead to something terrible.
However, the conclusion reached by all the doctors was ultimately the same as the previous doctor.
Poisoned by the ‘Morning Dawn Flower’ toxin.
And it’s too late to start treatment now.
The person on the bed was evidently beyond medical help.
Upon hearing this, Yang Chenyan’s face immediately darkened, appearing furious.
He tightly grasped the neck of one of the doctors, each word uttered with emphasis, “What did you say!?”
The doctor struggled to break free from Yang Chenyan’s grip, but Yang Chenyan’s strength was formidable, causing the doctor’s face to turn purple.
Unable to utter a word, their eyes filled with intense fear.
As if the Yang Chenyan before them was a demon emerging from hell to claim lives.
The other doctors, upon seeing the situation, were so frightened that they directly fell to the ground, as if they were about to faint the next second.
In reality, they wished they could faint for real.
In just a short hour, they experienced something terrifying that they had never imagined in their entire lives.
They were working in the hospital when suddenly a man barged in and tied them up.
Then they were brought here.
Several of them, after passing through the mist and witnessing the unscientific existence of the blood-red vines, couldn’t help but burst into tears.
It was too terrifying. Would they be able to leave this place alive today?
