The current time of mutation, besides knowing the degree of injury, other influencing factors were still unknown.
Ruan Qing lowered his eyes slightly and glanced around with his peripheral vision.
His gaze eventually fell on the sharp object on a shelf not far away.
It was a pair of scissors.
It’s probably something the supermarket staff used for dismantling things. Only half of it remained, but it’s more suitable as a weapon now.
When Yan Ci had just killed the zombie, Ruan Qing noticed that the zombie’s weakness was its head.
As long as the zombie’s temple was pierced in an instant, it should die.
Ruan Qing concealed the expression in his eyes, then stood up straight the next second, walked slowly to the man’s side through the shelf, and spoke gently with a hint of concern in his voice, “Um, are you injured? Let me bandage it for you.”
Although Ruan Qing appeared caring, the man instinctively backed away, holding his wrist, and reacted extremely violently, shouting, “Get away!!!”
The man’s reaction was obviously abnormal, his expression even showing a hint of panic and fear.
As if afraid of others finding out something.
The people in the supermarket frowned at the scene, some suspiciously looking at the man.
Their gaze eventually fell on the man’s bloodstained wrist.
After speaking, the man realized that his reaction was too intense. He stiffly lowered the hand covering his wrist under the scrutiny of everyone, and awkwardly said, “I, I don’t like people getting close to me.”
But now no one believed him.
If there wasn’t a problem, his reaction wouldn’t have been so exaggerated.
Ruan Qing pursed his lips, his long eyelashes trembling lightly. He looked at the man gently and reassured him, “Don’t be afraid. You’re safe now. I just want to help you with your wound.”
“I don’t need it!” The man replied quickly, his tone urgent.
As if afraid that if he spoke slowly, Ruan Qing would forcibly bandage him.
Now the people in the supermarket were even more suspicious of the man.
The youth who had just been kicked by Yan Ci remained silent, not daring to speak or cause trouble with Yan Ci.
He didn’t even dare to say a word at first.
But after witnessing this scene, he spoke coldly, “Have you been bitten by a zombie?”
Although the youth framed it as a question, it carried an air of certainty.
Seeing this, the others in the supermarket looked terrified, immediately stepping back, attempting to distance themselves from the man.
The man’s expression stiffened slightly as he gritted his teeth, “No, I wasn’t bitten by a zombie. I injured my hand when I was running away, accidentally hitting something.”
The youth didn’t believe the man’s excuses. Instead, he questioned him coldly, “Then why didn’t you let him bandage it?”
The man hesitated and stammered, “I... I just didn’t want you all to misunderstand.”
“If it’s just a simple wound, then show us. Otherwise, please leave,” the youth asserted firmly.
Hearing this, the man’s body tensed, subconsciously covering his wrist. He dared not show his hand to everyone.
Because the bite marks on his hand were very obvious.
And with some time passed, the area around the bite marks had begun to decay, with the nearby skin turning a bluish-black.
It was evident he was infected.
Perhaps it wouldn’t be long before he became like those monsters outside, mindlessly biting others, devoid of reason.
No different from death.
The man lowered his head, concealing the resentment in his eyes.
He resented the young man for exposing him.
He resented even more that he was the one who got bitten.
He was supposed to be safe; he didn’t want to die.
Just because he got bitten didn’t mean he would turn into one of those creatures. He just had to go to the hospital, and everything would be fine.
Why did he have to be discovered?
Why did everyone have to turn against him?
As the man kept his head down, no one noticed the change in him. His eyeballs started turning white, bulging unusually, filled with bloodshot veins.
In a matter of seconds, the man’s expression twisted into a grotesque grimace. Foul-smelling liquid oozed from his unsealed lips, making him look terrifying.
Even his body started stiffening, emitting a putrid odor, appearing extremely dreadful.
It’s apparent that the man had already been infected and turned into a zombie.
Ruan Qing was very close to the other, and he quickly noticed something was off with the man.
However, it was too late; the man had already opened his mouth wide and was lunging towards him.
Everything happened very suddenly.
Ruan Qing’s eyes widened, his pupils slightly contracting. Panic flashed across his delicate face as he instinctively took a few steps back.
Ruan Qing also couldn’t believe how quickly the man mutated. He wanted to take out the scissor to stab the other, but although his brain reacted, his body simply couldn’t keep up.
Ruan Qing tightly pressed his pale pink lips together, only able to watch in wide-eyed disbelief as fear paralyzed him, while the man lunged towards him
Others witnessing the scene screamed, “Ah!!!”
“He mutated!!! He turned into a zombie! Everyone, run!!!”
People in the supermarket immediately started running madly. Some even rushed to the exit, frantically opening the glass door, attempting to escape.
Ruan Qing, facing the imminent threat of the zombie, knew he couldn’t avoid it.
But he had props; he wouldn’t die here without a fight.
Just as Ruan Qing was about to use his props, someone grabbed the back of his collar and pulled him backward. The next second, he fell into a tall embrace.
The man who had just lunged at him now had a chopstick stuck in his head.
It was an ordinary wooden chopstick, piercing through the man’s forehead. Only the part held by Yan Ci remained outside.
The forehead, a hard bone, was penetrated by an unsharpened chopstick, indicating Yan Ci’s immense strength.
A strength bordering on the absurd.
Ruan Qing lowered his gaze, his body trembling slightly. The fingers beneath his sleeves, distinctly visible, were squeezed so hard that they turned somewhat pale, as if the previous scene had frightened him.
Yan Ci withdrew his hand expressionlessly, taking a few steps back with Ruan Qing in his arms.
Without Yan Ci’s support, the man’s body stiffened and fell to the ground. His eyeballs protruded, and even in death, he didn’t close his eyes.
Yan Ci had noticed the man being bitten as soon as the group appeared at the door, so he kept a constant eye on the man’s condition.
However, he did not warn the delicate young master.
After all, one must experience something to understand that the only person he could rely on was him.
Yan Ci, after the man fell, lowered his gaze to the young master in his arms.
The young man’s body trembled slightly, the corners of his eyes reddening, a mist forming in his eyes. His delicate face turned pale, giving him an appearance of extreme fragility and helplessness.
This extremely pitiful look, so different from the boldness he showed just a moment ago, failed to evoke sympathy or compassion. Instead, it intensified the hint of cruelty in Yan Ci’s heart, making him even more inclined to... humiliate the young man.
After all, the young master used to always present himself with a gentle and jade-like demeanor, giving off an impression of profound insincerity.
On the contrary, after the apocalypse, this fearful appearance captivated people’s attention, making it hard to look away.
Yan Ci’s gaze focused on the young man’s pale pink lips. Just as his hand, wrapped around the young man’s waist, exerted a slight force, a ‘thud’ sound echoed.
It was the sound of something hitting glass.
