Moreover, with the zombies changing like this, the glass door wouldn’t be able to stop them.
Maybe the glass door would be broken by the zombies in the middle of the night.
Others quickly noticed too.
A student, looking at the increasing number of zombies outside the door, had fear in his eyes. Then, with a trembling voice, he spoke, “This place is too close to our school. If...”
The student was probably too scared to complete the sentence, but others already knew what he wanted to say.
The youth frowned. “We can’t stay here any longer.”
The middle-aged man holding bread, with a fearful expression, said, “But... but it’s so dangerous outside. Going out will only get us killed faster. It’s better to wait here for rescue.”
“Yeah, it’s been half a day already. Rescue must have started. We just need to wait, and maybe we’ll be saved soon,” someone next to the middle-aged man whispered.
Most people seemed hesitant and undecided, finding it difficult to decide whether to stay or leave.
In the end, the people in the supermarket split into two groups—one decided to leave the supermarket to find a way out, and the other chose to stay and wait for rescue.
Ruan Qing looked at Yan Ci beside him. Yan Ci had already started picking up a backpack from the shelf and began putting things into it.
All essential items for escape, taking high-calorie and space-efficient foods.
Clearly, he chose to leave.
Ruan Qing originally wanted to leave too, but seeing Yan Ci’s choice, he silently chose to stay.
Following Yan Ci might not be a wise decision.
When Yan Ci left, he would find a chance to escape.
In his heart, Ruan Qing tried to come up with excuses, trying to find a way to convince Yan Ci.
However, Yan Ci didn’t give Ruan Qing a chance to choose. After packing his bag, he picked up a cute crossbody bag from the shelf and put some snacks that weren’t very filling but tasty and a sweet and sour drink into it. Then, he handed it to Ruan Qing.
But before Ruan Qing could react, Yan Ci slightly furrowed his brow, took the bag back, removed the drink, and placed it in his own bag.
After considering for a moment, he handed it back to Ruan Qing.
Obviously, he thought the bag was a bit heavy with two drinks.
The inside of the bag now contained some small snacks, probably enough for a one or two-year-old to carry.
Yan Ci’s actions seemed like the kind of gesture one would make to avoid children feeling left out, thinking they didn’t have a package like others, so symbolically giving them one.
Ruan Qing: “...”
Ruan Qing didn’t reach out to take it but wanted to express the desire to stay, “I think...”
Before Ruan Qing could finish, Yan Ci directly pulled him over and hung the crossbody bag on him.
No chance was given for Ruan Qing to refuse.
Ruan Qing looked at the crossbody bag with a cute bunny design around his waist and fell silent.
“What are you thinking?” Yan Ci asked after finishing the act. He touched Ruan Qing’s waist, where the clothes were stained with some damp blood.
“Uncomfortable wearing the clothes?” Without waiting for Ruan Qing’s answer, he continued, “Just bear with it for now. I’ll find you a clean set once we’re out.”
Obviously, Yan Ci had no intention of letting him stay. Perhaps even if he insisted, Yan Ci would take him away, or Yan Ci would stay with him.
Ruan Qing: “Oh.”
Ruan Qing also didn’t show any intention of changing the bag. His current body couldn’t carry anything too heavy.
But he didn’t want to fill the bag with useless snacks either.
Ruan Qing glanced at the chocolates and similar items on the shelf, stuffed some into the crossbody bag, and then appeared to be choosing more items from the shelf.
Yan Ci didn’t stop it, just checking what was missing himself.
He even took out some of the things he had just collected while picking up, stuffing in some towels, wet wipes, and similar items.
In reality, it wasn’t very useful; it would be better to include a bottle of water and a loaf of bread instead.
But after some thought, Yan Ci decided not to take them out.
Ruan Qing also didn’t dare to stuff too many things, fearing that Yan Ci might find it too heavy and throw it away.
People who were about to leave usually had a large backpack for travel, while Ruan Qing had only a small crossbody bag with not much inside.
It didn’t look like he was about to go on the run, but more like going on a spring outing.
The youth wanted to remind Ruan Qing, but he glanced at Yan Ci behind the other, and silently closed his mouth.
The door at the back of the supermarket’s aisle was locked, and the lock had to be opened.
Ruan Qing could naturally pick the lock, but the original owner, a pampered young master, couldn’t. So, he couldn’t unlock it in front of everyone.
Finally, someone found the key behind the counter, tried several keys before successfully unlocking the door.
Then, without hesitation, they left the supermarket.
People inside the supermarket hesitated as they saw them leaving, but eventually, they gritted their teeth and locked the door to the aisle.
Upstairs in the supermarket was a residential building.
This passage could lead to the street outside, but there were quite a few zombies roaming outside on the street.
They had no way to leave, so they could only go up to the residential building.
Because the zombie outbreak happened in the morning, most households in the residential building had their doors locked.
Either they hadn’t woken up yet, or they had already gone out to work.
The sky had already begun to darken, and doing anythng during the night was undoubtedly very dangerous.
They decided to find a room to spend the night in.
Yan Ci, with a backpack and an iron rod in hand, knocked on the door of the first room on the third floor.
No one answered.
Either there was really no one inside, or the person inside didn’t want to respond.
It was challenging to determine the exact situation.
This type of room wasn’t the best choice, either.
Yan Ci put down his hand and knocked on the door of the second room.
Still no response.
It wasn’t until Yan Ci knocked on the door of the third room that they heard a ‘hehe’ sound from inside.
Clearly, the person in the room had already turned into a zombie.
Yan Ci pulled Ruan Qing back a bit, then kicked the door open.
When the zombie in the room rushed over, Yan Ci swiftly dealt with it with a single blow.
Decisive and ruthless, without a hint of hesitation.
The room only had that one zombie in it. After Yan Ci confirmed this, he entered the room.
Ruan Qing also followed into the room.
However, just as the others entered the room, Yan Ci coldly turned his head back. “Get out.”
Upon hearing this, the few individuals were finding it hard to believe, but it was evident that Yan Ci was addressing them specifically.
One thin and weak male classmate looked at Yan Ci, his face full of shock as he spoke, “What... what do you mean?”
“If you want a room, go find one yourself.” Yan Ci kicked the zombie corpse at the door out, then looked at the few of them. “Understand?”
Ruan Qing knew Yan Ci wasn’t talking about him, but he pursed his lips at the words.
Just as the others were also leaving the room, several zombies appeared at the end of the corridor.
Those were the zombies that came out of the rooms after smelling the scent of living people.
The zombies directly rushed towards the few people in the corridor.
Yan Ci reacted very quickly, grabbed Ruan Qing’s hand, pulled him into the room, and then went to close the door.
The others outside the door wanted to push the door open, but their strength was not as great as Yan Ci’s.
Seeing the door about to close, Ruan Qing immediately grabbed Yan Ci’s wrist, with a look of pleading and anxiety in his eyes. “C-Can you let them in?”
“It’s too dangerous now. They don’t have time to find a room.”
“Is that so?” Yan Ci looked at the slender white hand grabbing his wrist and spoke lightly, “If you want me to agree to let them in, you can...”
“Let me touch you.”
