Ruan Qing froze upon hearing Yan Ci’s words, subconsciously looking up at him. In his beautiful eyes, there was a hint of astonishment and disbelief.
It seemed like he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
But evidently, Yan Ci wasn’t joking. When Ruan Qing looked over, he calmly spoke. “Do you want to save them?”
Ruan Qing: “...”
Perhaps Yan Ci sensed Ruan Qing’s resistance, or maybe he thought the request was too extreme. Perhaps he felt that if he touched, he wouldn’t be able to stop. In a low, deep voice, Yan Ci added, “Of course.”
“You can touch me too.”
Ruan Qing: “...”
Taking the initiative to touch allows for control and safety. It’s much safer than being touched without control.
When someone else touched you, they had full control, and it could feel like you had no ability to resist, especially if they perceived your strength as insignificant.
However, Ruan Qing didn’t want either option. He didn’t want to be touched, and he didn’t want to touch others.
Because Yan Ci’s touch would definitely not be innocent. It’s certain that Yan Ci would only be satisfied if it’s done quite excessively.
At this moment, Ruan Qing didn’t care much about the fate of the people outside, as most had stayed in the supermarket.
Only a few had left together, and even if his character setting were to be compromised, it would only result in a deduction of seven hundred points.
He could afford that.
However, currently, seeking Yan Ci’s help wasn’t the only option to save the few people outside.
Although his body was weak, picking locks was effortless for him. He could lead people into other rooms, saving them while maintaining the saintly image.
As for the issue of lock-picking, a casual excuse could easily divert suspicion.
Moreover, if his character setting was going to be compromised anyway, why not save people along the way?
The people who followed along were basically people who were trying hard to stay alive, individuals who volunteered to help when things went awry in the supermarket. If there’s a chance to save them, Ruan Qing doesn’t want to witness their deaths.
After making up his mind, Ruan Qing reached out to put his hand on the door, “I’ll go out...”
However, before Ruan Qing’s hand could touch the door, Yan Ci closed it.
Ruan Qing’s outstretched hand hung in midair, motionless.
He had the ability to save those people, but he hadn’t anticipated that Yan Ci would never allow him to leave.
There were no other options given to him.
In other words, he could either ask Yan Ci to save the people or ignored the fate of those outside.
The zombie’s ‘hehe’ sounds grew closer, accompanied by the rustling noises, sending shivers down one’s spine.
This corridor led to a dead end with no escape route.
If the people outside couldn’t find a way into the room, aside from fighting back against the zombies, there was no chance of survival.
The people outside were well aware of the situation, and searching for other rooms was now out of the question.
Watching the approaching zombies, even the emotionally stable youth panicked. Forcing himself to stay calm, the young man pounded on the door and said in a low voice, “We’ll hide for a while and then leave. We definitely won’t linger.”
“One hour. We’ll leave in one hour.”
A gentle short-haired woman beside him, with fear and panic written all over her face, spoke, “Young master, please save us. I have a daughter waiting for me at home. I won’t cause you trouble.”
She had only gone out to buy groceries this morning, as her daughter was still asleep. Little did she expect to encounter such a terrifying situation.
With no phone signal and unable to check the surveillance at home, she had no idea about her daughter’s well-being. The day had been filled with fear and regret for her.
As the short-haired woman spoke, her voice choked with sobs, but she managed to hold back her fear and conveyed everything she wanted to say. Her voice now carried a hint of tearfulness.
“I divorced her father. If I don’t go back, she won’t survive. She’s only three years old, hasn’t had a chance to see the world. Please, I beg you.”
The short-haired woman probably knew that pleading with Yan Ci would be futile; she was appealing to Ruan Qing.
“Young master, please be kind. I beg you to save us.”
Ruan Qing pursed his lips, his memory impeccable, remembering every person in the supermarket.
The speaker was the only female member among those who left the group.
Despite her gentle demeanor and apparent timidity, she had actively assisted in defending against the zombies when they attacked the glass door from the outside.
When it came time to decide whether to leave the supermarket, she didn’t hesitate to choose departure.
It’s probably for his own daughter.
Ruan Qing tightened the strap of the crossbody bag in his hand, and the next moment, he let go. He looked up at Yan Ci, opened his mouth, and spoke so quietly that it was almost inaudible.
“Save them.”
After hearing the answer he wanted, Yan Ci didn’t waste any time and immediately opened the door.
The people outside had already given up, ready to run to the end, hoping to take a chance to jump directly to the opposite building.
The two buildings were neither too far nor too close, with a gap of almost two meters. In reality, the hope was very slim.
And if they couldn’t make it across, they would fall to the ground. Even if they didn’t die, the smell of blood would attract nearby zombies.
Death was inevitable.
But that was their only choice.
Fortunately, just as they were about to run, the door opened.
Seeing this, several people immediately rushed in a panic.
However, it was a bit late, and the zombies also came rushing.
The faces of the others showed fear and panic, and even the thin man at the back pushed someone next to him, trying to gain a chance for his own survival.
In front of the thin man was the woman who had just spoken. The woman with short hair was about to run into the door, but being pushed by the thin man, she fell directly towards the side where the zombies were.
The woman with short hair widened her eyes, trying to grab onto something, but she couldn’t catch anything. Uncontrollably, she fell towards the zombies, her eyes filled with fear.
Also filled with despair.
Ruan Qing reacted the fastest. He quickly took a few steps forward and tried to pull the woman with short hair back before the zombies reached them.
However, Ruan Qing’s strength was too small, not enough to pull the woman back. Instead, the woman pulled him out.
Yan Ci, who hadn’t intended to interfere, changed his expression. He grabbed Ruan Qing’s collar and pulled him back.
Just like lifting a small kitten.
Ruan Qing didn’t let go of the hand of the woman with short hair, so she was also pulled back.
However, the woman with short hair didn’t receive the same treatment as Ruan Qing. She had no one to catch her and couldn’t steady herself, falling heavily inside the door.
at least the woman was saved
