Fortunately, when Ruan Qing reached the sofa, the zombie didn’t react much, and he successfully retrieved his messenger bag.
Everything inside the bag was still there.
Ruan Qing slung the bag over his shoulder, then glanced toward the bedroom door.
The bedroom door was open.
Ruan Qing reached into the messenger bag, then, with a quick roll from one side of the sofa to the other, ignoring his foot injury, he ran towards the door.
The zombie seemed surprised that Ruan Qing was running and paused for a second before emitting a sharp “hehe” sound, then quickly lunged toward the door at an astonishing speed.
Even without his foot injury, Ruan Qing couldn’t outrun the zombie, let alone with an injured foot.
But seeing the zombie pounce, he didn’t panic at all. He took out a small bottle from the messenger bag and threw it at the zombie.
Then he exerted all his strength to run towards the door, which was now within reach.
Because the zombie behind him distracted Ruan Qing, and he exerted all his strength to run forward, he didn’t notice a figure appearing at the door.
Ruan Qing collided directly with this figure, then fell to the ground because of his injured foot.
“Ugh...” Intense pain shot into Ruan Qing’s brain from his foot.
The painful stimulation made tears well up in Ruan Qing’s eyes, a hint of redness appearing at the corners of his eyes, and a trace of pain emerged on his delicate face.
His brain almost stopped thinking.
He didn’t even care if the zombie would catch up.
Ruan Qing curled up on the ground, trembling slightly from the pain, before gradually recovering from it. Then he saw clearly the man he had just collided with at the door.
Yan... Ci?
Ruan Qing’s watery eyes widened suddenly, a hint of panic appearing in his beautiful eyes, instinctively shrinking back.
Wanting to create distance from Yan Ci.
Yan Ci’s face remained the same, and there were no apparent injuries on his body, he seemed just like a normal person.
But Ruan Qing could see Yan Ci’s pale pupils, emotionless gaze, and black nails at a glance.
Everywhere indicated that he was not human.
Yan Ci had obviously mutated into a zombie.
Ruan Qing’s brain screamed frantically to run, but there were zombies in front of him and behind him.
Even from his angle, looking out from the door, the factory outside was full of zombies, densely packed.
The ‘hehe’ sounds he just heard clearly came from outside.
The scene was hair-raising, to say the least, leaving one devoid of any courage or desire to flee.
Ruan Qing felt weak all over, sitting directly on the ground, tightly pursing his thin lips.
His slender figure looked full of anxiety and helplessness.
If it were just one zombie, Ruan Qing would have a chance to escape, but outside were thousands of zombies.
He had no chance at all.
Moreover, Yan Ci was already formidable before turning into a zombie. After becoming one, he might be even stronger, and Ruan Qing had no chance of winning.
Perhaps he was really going to die here this time.
The mist in Ruan Qing’s eyes became a bit denser, moistening his long eyelashes. He could only console himself in his heart that dying here was much better than dying in a supernatural instance.
At most, dying in this instance would turn him into a zombie.
With his physical fitness, he would probably become a useless zombie, unable to bite anyone.
Moreover, after turning into a zombie, he would look much uglier and might not attract any perverts.
As the terrifying figure approached him at the door, Ruan Qing’s long eyelashes trembled uneasily, and he eventually closed his eyes.
Although he knew he was undoubtedly doomed, he couldn’t help but tremble uncontrollably when something cold touched his skin.
It wasn’t so much fear of death, but rather a fear of pain.
Being gnawed on by zombies was simply the worst way to die.
However, the expected pain did not come, and he was even lifted up.
Ruan Qing furrowed his delicate brows and slowly opened his eyes.
The one holding him was Yan Ci, carrying him towards the bed.
After glancing at Yan Ci’s profile, Ruan Qing looked towards the door.
Only then did he notice some things scattered on the ground.
It was food, along with the bag Yan Ci had back then.
...Could it be that Yan Ci still had memories?
Ruan Qing pursed his lips and spoke softly, his tone full of hesitation and caution, “...Yan Ci?”
No response.
There was still no emotion in his pupils, as if he hadn’t heard anything at all.
Apparently, he had lost consciousness.
And probably his memories, too.
Finally, Ruan Qing pursed his lips and said nothing more, stiffening his body, allowing Yan Ci to carry him to the bed.
After Yan Ci put Ruan Qing down, he turned and walked towards the door. Passing by the zombie with only one eye left, he directly snapped its neck.
The zombie seemed unaware of what had happened, and it fell with its eyes wide open.
Ruan Qing shrank back in fear, once again retreating to the corner of the wall, as if it could give him some sense of safety.
After Yan Ci snapped the zombie’s head off, he slowly walked to the doorway, his body stiff, and bent over to pick up the bag.
Because he had turned into a zombie, his body was extremely stiff, and it was difficult for his fingers to bend. He tried several times to pick up some food but failed.
Perhaps growing impatient, Yan Ci directly slapped one of the loaves of bread hard, flattening it.
Then he avoided the dirty food and tried again to pick up a clean loaf, this time succeeding.
Then he walked toward Ruan Qing.
Although Yan Ci’s appearance wasn’t much different from a normal person’s, one could easily tell when he walked, as his movements were extremely stiff.
Just a little more agile than the zombies outside.
When Ruan Qing saw that even Yan Ci, despite his impatience, wanted to pick up the bread, he had a bad feeling.
Zombies didn’t eat human food, so the food must be for him.
With Yan Ci’s strength, he didn’t need to stockpile food at all, let alone keep it so meticulously.
Even unconsciously avoiding the dirty bread.
It was as if nothing had changed from before he became a zombie.
It didn’t seem like stocking food reserves, more like... keeping a wife.
Ruan Qing’s delicate face paled slightly again, hoping he was wrong.
He lowered his eyes to hide the unease in them, nervously watching Yan Ci approach.
Yan Ci finally stood by the bedside and then awkwardly climbed onto the bed.
As if his limbs were uncoordinated.
Ruan Qing wanted to back away, but he was already in the corner, with nowhere to retreat.
Yan Ci tore open the bread packaging and stiffly handed it to Ruan Qing’s lips.
The zombie’s nails were a bit long and gray-black, looking very sharp.
They could easily cut through human skin.
And as long as a zombie scratched even a bit of skin, the person would eventually turn into a zombie.
After seeing Yan Ci’s nails clearly, Ruan Qing hesitated for a moment, avoiding touching Yan Ci’s hand, and reached out to grab a bit of the edge, trying to take the bread over, but couldn’t move it at all.
Yan Ci didn’t let go.
Ruan Qing pursed his lips and withdrew his hand.
After Ruan Qing withdrew his hand, Yan Ci reached forward again, extending the bread directly to Ruan Qing’s lips.
Yan Ci’s fingers even directly touched Ruan Qing’s lips, the extremely cold temperature causing Ruan Qing to instinctively recoil, his head hitting the wall behind him.
The pain caused Ruan Qing’s eyes to once again mist over with tears.
But Yan Ci seemed not to understand, his hand still held out like that.
Ruan Qing lowered his gaze to the bread in front of him and finally understood.
He slightly opened his mouth and cautiously bit into the bread.
This time, Yan Ci finally reacted, a hint of excitement appearing in his pale eyes.
AAAA I KNEW YAN CI WAS GONNA APPEAR!! actually, hes much better as a zombie than he was before.
