This incident caused a huge sensation, almost shocking the entire world.
No one wanted to believe that while they were living their peaceful lives, so many people were struggling on the brink of death.
It was impossible to act solely on hearsay, so the authorities immediately dispatched people to investigate the situation in City A.
The images they sent back were horrifying, resembling scenes from a horror movie.
And as the young man in the video said, there was almost no possibility of rescue.
The zombies were not afraid of any weapons and would attack and bite anyone they saw.
Although it was known that a headshot could kill a zombie, they were too fast and could even dodge bullets, making it extremely difficult to kill them.
After losing a team attempting a rescue, those who hadn't yet landed immediately evacuated City A.
Despite verifying the situation, the authorities did not make this public.
After all, it was too shocking and would undoubtedly cause unprecedented chaos.
They tried to shut down the live broadcast first and then explore other rescue options.
They wouldn't abandon any citizens, but they couldn't let the public become restless and anxious.
However, shutting down the broadcast was impossible because it was being transmitted via a quantum communication satellite, immune to signals, territories, and even interference.
The only solution was to regain control of the communication satellite.
Many attempts were made, but none succeeded, so they were forced to let the broadcast continue.
As time passed, even those who were initially skeptical began to doubt.
Most people started causing disturbances at relevant departments, but even threats were ineffective because of the sheer number of people involved this time.
It almost incited everyone's anger.
In the end, the relevant departments had no choice but to disclose the truth.
Although many people had a feeling that the live broadcast was real, seeing the official announcement was still shocking and shattered their last bit of hope.
It was all real.
City A had truly fallen.
The number of over eight million was not a small number; it represented over eight million lives.
Even in the face of natural disasters, society had never witnessed such a staggering loss of life, especially not one caused by human actions.
All for the sake of seeking eternal life.
This time, there was no need for protests. All those involved in the event were swiftly arrested, with the main participants sentenced to death and the secondary participants receiving life imprisonment or suspended death sentences at the very least.
The speed was unprecedentedly fast.
Because this time, no one could suppress everything anymore, not even those in high positions.
The undying corpse was also found. Those people had relocated it before the apocalypse arrived, intending to continue studying it.
In other words, before the apocalypse, these people were so crazy that they wanted to blow up the entire City A without leaving any means of transportation for the people of City A.
Everyone was furious; online criticism abounds, and some even wish they could confront those people and beat them to death.
However, no amount of cursing now would change anything; everything was irreparable.
Everyone was worried about the situation in City A, but the young man in the video also said that without developing serum antibodies, rescue efforts would be in vain.
Even official announcements acknowledged this, stating that the zombies' strength was rapidly escalating at a terrifying pace, making rescue efforts extremely challenging.
The authorities, during the capture of those individuals, obtained research materials and have since established a research team with the aim of developing a serum as quickly as possible.
However, researching and developing a serum within a few days was no easy task, especially considering they had no prior experience in this area.
Even getting started would have taken several days, and by then, it would have been too late for everything.
Everyone felt a profound sense of heaviness. Was blowing up the entire island truly the only option left?
An online poll was launched at some point.
[Do you agree to blow up City A?]
The poll asked whether to drag the whole world into danger or sacrifice the entire City A.
This poll left everyone feeling breathless, as no matter how they chose, it caused significant distress.
If they chose not to blow up City A, then it was highly likely that in a few days, their world would end up looking like City A.
And if they chose to blow up City A, then it meant they were personally choosing to let those millions of people die.
Some people became afraid, fearful that their world would end up like City A's. Eventually, trembling, they chose to agree.
Many people thought that the number of those disagreeing would definitely be greater than those who agreed, given that it involved an entire city's population.
However, within the short few hours after the vote was cast, aside from those still observing, the number of agreements far exceeded the number of disagreements.
The poll numbers hurt most people's eyes, making them feel despair just by looking at them.
City A also naturally saw this vote; they prayed for a hope of survival.
Some people from City A chose to agree, as they would rather sink with City A into the sea than drag down the entire world.
Jiang Shuyu made no choice. She never diverted her gaze from the live broadcast, silently holding the little girl and watching the young man on the screen.
She chose to stand by him.
The young man decided to detonate when necessary, and she had no complaints, just like her choices over these past few days.
From learning about the apocalypse in City A to understanding that rescue was impossible, it had only been a few short hours.
Many believed City A was beyond saving, and blowing it up was the best outcome.
A small number of people placed their faint hope on the young man in the live broadcast.
Except for the first ten minutes, the live broadcast was now open for comments.
Viewers were asking whether the people on screen could really develop the serum.
[Can you really develop it? Please don't give us hope and then despair.]
[I've never seen such a young researcher. Could he be deceiving us? Our labs here all say it's impossible to research in such a short time! How could he do it alone?]
[I know him; he's the school grass of the Second University in City A, just a student of arts, never done any experiments or research!]
The person then revealed Shi Qing's identity and detailed his life from childhood.
Indeed, he had never participated in any research, and even his science grades before high school specialization were abysmally poor.
It was clear he had no experience in research, let alone research of such life-or-death significance.
[I'm speechless. How can anyone still want to start a fire at this point? Congratulations, you've really stirred things up.]
[It's so easy for someone good-looking to gain attention. Why choose this method? Are you happy stepping on the lives of millions?]
The barrage was filled with insults, drowning out the few who tried to speak in his defense.
On his end, Ruan Qing couldn't see what the barrage was saying at all because he was using a camera as his lens, while his computer was calculating relevant molecular formulas.
Even if he could see, it wouldn't affect him much.
Thanks for the update!
ReplyDeletethese ppl are so stupid. i get not believing he can create the serum when even top scientists and researchers cant, but why tf are they shitting on him for trying? its not as if it matters if he actually cant bc he already said he would blow up city A to save the world, so this doesnt affect them in any way. however, if he succeeds then hes saving 8 million lives. when you compare that with them who are all talk and have already given up on the city, its better that hes trying. even when ppl announce they would try to develop a serum to save the world they still get hate from losers with holes in their heads smh
