Ruan Qing was diligently studying the zombie virus, never leaving the lab and not taking a moment’s rest from start to finish.
Frequent blood draws, and intense mental focus had already turned his face as pale as paper.
But he didn’t stop; three days were just too short, and he had no time to rest.
When he felt weak from hunger, he quickly grabbed nearby bread to eat, then continued with his experiments.
The wounds on Ruan Qing’s forehead and hands had been left untreated for a long time and had started to swell and redden. Contrasted by his pallid skin, they looked somewhat frightening.
Even when night fell, Ruan Qing didn’t rest, tirelessly researching until morning, making his complexion even more deathly pale.
The drone had been destroyed for various reasons, leaving only Ruan Qing’s image in the live broadcast.
After hours of Ruan Qing’s relentless research, the barrage of insults and abuse ceased.
Instead, people began discussing the apocalypse and the current situation.
Someone, amidst the discussions, sent a barrage like this:
[Um... you should take a break.]
Others had long wanted to tell the young man to rest, but no one had spoken up until they saw this barrage, and then they followed suit, urging the person in the video to take a break.
Because the young man already had a foot injury, he limped when walking and could only move by leaning on the lab bench.
The injuries on the young man’s hands, caused by prolonged support, had become swollen and blurred, almost turning into a mass of flesh and blood.
Yet the young man in the video continued his relentless research, never glancing at the camera.
It was as if he had long forgotten that he was still broadcasting.
Many people looked worried, but in the end, no one said anything.
Time passed slowly, and the person in the video still didn’t stop; everyone’s initial anger turned into silence.
Even if this was all a show, it was shocking.
Moreover, it didn’t seem like a show at all; it seemed like genuine research.
No one mentioned the idea of it being a show anymore, but someone voiced their doubt.
[He’s too skilled at this research. Could he be from that Eternal Life Laboratory? Is this some form of redemption?]
[Don’t talk nonsense; his name isn’t on the list.]
[He’s the one who released the list; who knows if he removed his own name.]
The live broadcast room erupted again, but this time, more people believed in the young man than before.
Because they didn’t think the young man was that kind of person.
The barrage seemed unable to affect the person in the video at all; the young man continued his experiments methodically.
Occasionally, he would take out pen and paper to calculate, or drop unknown reagents into petri dishes, carefully observing them.
Two days may not seem long, but it’s also not short. The live broadcast room had already gathered hundreds of millions of viewers.
However, there were very few barrages flashing by; everyone just silently watched, observing the young man’s efforts on the screen.
Due to the sleepless and relentless experiments in the video, the young man’s face became extremely pale, and even the hand holding the test tube trembled slightly.
His slender figure seemed as though it could collapse at any moment.
No one criticized the young man anymore, nor did anyone advise him to rest, because it wouldn’t have made any difference.
Everyone was waiting for the young man to create a miracle.
On the empty screen, someone sent two words.
[Jiayou.]
Then thousands upon thousands of “jiayou” messages flooded the entire screen, completely obscuring the picture.
However, Ruan Qing still couldn’t see this. His research paused for a moment; he put down what was in his hand, then covered his chest slightly and directly spat out blood.
Bloodstains dyed the corners of his mouth and stained his clothes, creating a shocking and distressing sight.
Ruan Qing’s slender fingers curled up a bit. After enduring the pain in his heart, he continued with the experiment.
If one looked closely, they could see his slender figure trembling slightly.
The vivid red color seemed to burn into everyone’s vision, causing their hearts to tighten as they anxiously watched the young man on the screen.
He must, he must succeed.
Everyone was praying for this.
For the millions of lives and for the young man.
The Eternal Life Laboratory exploded. Dr. Fu and Yan Ci, along with a few others, were not killed in the explosion, but they all thought the young man was dead. They stumbled through the next two days in a daze until they inadvertently saw the live broadcast.
The person in the live broadcast was the one they thought had died. They were overjoyed and immediately went to find the person.
However, the live broadcast angle did not align with any key items, making it difficult to locate the young man’s position. They could only search area by area, covering all possible places.
However, there were too many areas to investigate on the island, and they were all quite far apart. It would take time to check each one.
By the slow arrival of the third day, none of them had managed to find the person.
Watching the increasingly weakened young man on the screen, their hearts ached with worry as they headed towards the laboratory to the south.
The young man’s location was most likely in that laboratory, as it was the only place left unchecked.
Their current location was quite far from there, but they should be able to arrive by 6:00 PM.
They would need to make the young man rest first upon arrival and then settle the score with him.
To think he faked his death twice on them.
Ruan Qing was unaware that people were searching in his direction. He was still earnestly conducting his experiment, with just the final step remaining.
There must still be time.
The island was supposed to be bombed at 8:00 AM on the third day, and the clearing of the dungeon was scheduled for 6:00 PM.
But it was already 9:00 AM, and the island had not been bombed.
Ruan Qing had worked tirelessly for three days without rest. His health was deteriorating day by day, and he had vomited blood several times. His face was so pale it was almost translucent.
He staggered towards the neighboring experiment table, but due to his weakness, he couldn’t hold on to the lab bench and fell heavily to the ground.
He disappeared from the screen.
Because the camera angle was from above, they couldn’t see the situation on the ground or Ruan Qing’s condition at that moment.
Everyone’s hearts clenched, and even though they knew Ruan Qing couldn’t see, they asked about his condition in the barrage.
[Are you okay? Where did you fall?]
[How are you feeling? Does it hurt? Is it serious?]
[You should rest for a while. A brief rest will be okay.]
Ruan Qing fell quite hard. He curled up on the ground for a while before slowly propping himself up against the table. He looked quite dazed.
Just as he was about to reach for a reagent, Ruan Qing suddenly remembered something and, after a long time, looked towards the camera, wanting to speak.
Due to not speaking for a long time, his lips had dried up and stuck together, making it impossible for him to speak at once.
poor ruan qing hes working so hard. yeah these ppl better appreciate him
