Perhaps that person had long known how strong his possessiveness was and how stubborn he could be.
He even knew that once an avatar was separated, it would develop selfishness and a desire to become an independent entity.
They would want to monopolize the young man.
So, that’s why he placed restrictions on the one possessing the most power.
If it weren’t for the need to protect the young man with someone who knew the truth, he probably wouldn’t even exist.
And the day that person returned was the moment when their group of avatars would disappear.
Because that person would have erased their consciousness before retracting all the avatars.
With consciousness erased, one would no longer exist.
Ruan Qing looked at the man emitting an obscure aura and lightly chuckled, “I had guessed early on.”
From the moment he knew this island was isolated, he already knew.
So from start to finish, he never hoped it would be otherwise.
If there’s no clear condition for success, then just create a new one.
Ruan Qing smiled faintly at Xie Xuanlan, “Do you want to make a bet?”
Before Xie Xuanlan could answer, he extended his hand, which Xie Xuanlan did not grasp, and lightly brushed Xie Xuanlan’s cheek with his fingertips.
Then, tracing down his face, his index finger lightly tapped Xie Xuanlan’s already healed heart. “If I win, you belong to me.”
“If I lose, I die in this instance.”
Ruan Qing’s smile was clean and pure, but in those beautiful eyes was a rare hint of confidence and madness, tinged with a bit of arrogance.
The sunset illuminated him, lending a touch of enhanced reality mixed with a hint of illusion, making him look stunningly beautiful.
So beautiful that it was hard to look away.
Even though Xie Xuanlan didn’t know the details of the bet or the intentions of the person in front of him, his heartbeat was so loud that he could hear it himself.
It was almost too noisy.
This person always managed to easily evoke all his emotions, making his heart beat only for him.
Xie Xuanlan held Ruan Qing’s hand that had touched him, his lips curling slightly as he hoarsely replied, “Alright.”
Under the light of the setting sun, their shadows stretched out and intertwined on the ground, as if symbolizing eternity.
Ruan Qing wasn’t surprised at all by Xie Xuanlan’s agreement, just as Xie Xuanlan had said.
He already knew the answer before asking.
Since the agreement was reached, Xie Xuanlan naturally did not conceal anything from Ruan Qing. He slowly revealed everything he could.
He didn’t know why this infinite horror game existed, nor did he know its purpose. As far back as he could remember, he was the main system of the game.
Responsible for supervising the entire infinite game.
For other players, he had absolute authority, even the ability to directly eliminate players or alter dungeons.
But for Ruan Qing, he had almost no rights.
All he could do was select dungeons for Ruan Qing and oversee the dungeon where he was located.
He could freely appear in other dungeons, but not where Ruan Qing was.
He could only enter the game by exploiting its loopholes, and he had to suppress his memories. Possessing someone else’s body was also only occasional.
Because he couldn’t be detected by the game.
He was under a restriction; once he approached Ruan Qing and was detected, his memories would be erased.
Everything would revert to square one.
So he could only rely on the sub-system to come here; his strength was weakened even more.
And he couldn’t reveal too much about the game; once something seemed off, he would expose himself.
Unless he had the power to resist that restriction.
But his current power was completely insufficient to counter that restriction, which was why he wanted to steal the power of the game.
However, he had not succeeded so far.
Ruan Qing remained silent regarding the system’s words, simply listening without expressing belief or disbelief.
He didn’t even ask for more details.
He could judge for himself what was true or false.
At least, Xie Xuanlan claiming he didn’t understand why this game existed was definitely false.
But he wasn’t a domineering master; he allowed him to have his own thoughts.

Jiang Shuyu originally thought she was dead, but then she felt pain all over her body, the pain making her draw a cold breath.
Did becoming a ghost mean enduring the pain of constant death?
Jiang Shuyu felt a wave of sorrow in her heart. She slowly opened her eyes and saw the roof of the car above her.
The car was still moving forward.
Jiang Shuyu blinked in confusion. Why was she still in the car?
Could she have turned into a ghost and be forever bound to this vehicle?
Stuck again at the place of death, enduring the agony of continuously dying—who wouldn’t end up becoming a vengeful ghost?
“Awake?” Ruan Qing, in the passenger seat, was the first to notice Jiang Shuyu waking up. He turned to her and asked, “How do you feel?”
Tears welled up in Jiang Shuyu’s eyes as soon as she saw Ruan Qing. She choked out, “Are you... are you dead too? Sob, sob, sob.”
Jiang Shuyu cried uncontrollably, feeling sadder than that when she knew she was dead.
Seeing her like this, Ruan Qing chuckled lightly. “Not dead.”
Jiang Shuyu widened her eyes at his words. “I’m not dead either?”
“Yeah.” Ruan Qing nodded. “Try moving your legs. Can you still feel them?”
Although it appeared to be just external injuries, without sophisticated instruments, it was difficult to determine if there were any bone injuries.
Jiang Shuyu subconsciously moved her foot as instructed, and a sharp pain shot through. Tears streamed down again. “Pain! Pain! Pain! Hiss!!!”
Jiang Shuyu took over ten seconds to recover from the pain. She looked gratefully at Ruan Qing and said, “I can move, and I can feel.”
Being able to move indicated there wasn’t a major issue.
Jiang Shuyu looked tearfully at Ruan Qing, her eyes full of gratitude. “Thank you for saving me again.”
Ruan Qing shook his head slightly. “I just gave your wounds a simple treatment. Captain Xie saved you.”
Only then did Jiang Shuyu notice that the one driving was Xie Xuanlan. Immediately, she thanked Xie Xuanlan profusely, “Thank you, Captain Xie, thank you so much.”
Xie Xuanlan didn’t respond directly, as if he hadn’t heard.
Jiang Shuyu didn’t expect a response from him either, nor did she say anything else. She glanced at the little girl sleeping beside her, then quietly ate the food Ruan Qing handed her.
The car headed towards the Eternal Life Laboratory.
Their team was probably the weakest in the apocalypse, made up entirely of the sick and disabled.
The only one with combat capability, Xie Xuanlan, had also been infected with the zombie virus.
The medicine he found at the hospital only slowed down his mutation process; his wounds were still festering and continuing to rot.
Whether it’s to suppress the zombie virus or to complete the game, they must go to the Eternal Life Laboratory.
Don't mind me. I'm just building my ship in this corner
